“Awesome fun don't miss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013 via mobile

We had extra time for a short trip from our campground. We didn't know what to expect. We really enjoyed the time spent here. The lady running the museum is great and you will be surprised by what you see. Only costs 3.50 or 3.00 for seniors. If you miss this it's ashame

“Cool inspiring place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

We heard of Tinkertown thanks to our Route 66 guidebook. It sounded a little strange so basically the perfect place to visit travelling down the Mother Road. Immediately when you park up you know something great is about to happen - nestled in the forest, its walls are built with green glass bottles giving everything a spiritual, hippy feeling.

Describing it as a museum doesn't do Tinkertown justice. The guy that made it, RJW, is a legend. It's filled with his inspiring quotes, weird bits and bobs from around the world, oddities and curios, a boat resting after a tiring journey, old fairground fortune teller machines, a Buddha cave... the miniatures while very impressive are almost a sideshow to simply being there and drinking in the atmosphere of creativity.

Highly recommended to crazy people looking for inspiration, makers, tinkers, big kids and anyone who sees awesome everywhere in the world around us.

“Amazing Artist and Environment - DO NOT MISS THIS ATTRACTION!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

We are enthusiasts of artists who have created works of art and enviroments where they live. Tinkertown is such an environment, and the best in the state. Tinkertown is not only the coolest attraction in New Mexico, but it rates up there with one of the Greatest Shows on Earth! There is something for everyone, with coin operated old-time machines, from fortune tellers to miniature circus arenas. The facility is in a beautiful setting in the Sandia Mountains just a short drive from Albuquerque. If you have ever visited House On The Rock, then you need to see this facility too. It is more digestible and the folks who work there are wonderful. The kids will love it, and people of all ages will have a great time. As we were there, I overheard an old couple reading one of the old signs that said something to the extent, "people who stop playing get old"....and the elderly man said to his wife, "I think this is a message to us....we need to have more fun", and she responded that she agreed. It was cool to hear and see that people who visit this place not only have a great time, but can also be moved to consider that life is short, and you should enjoy it every day.....I promise if you go here, it will make your day!!! Long Live Tinkertown!!!
