“Fine for a Night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We stopped at the Pine Springs for one night whilst travelling between Carlsbad and Albuquerque. The setting is very pleasant up amongst the pine trees by the Ruidoso Downs Racecourse. Everywhere was quiet and relaxing. The grounds are nicely landscaped and well-kept. We did not have time to use the pool but it looked fine, although the hot-tub was out of order.

The room itself was quite basic and a little tired but it was spacious and had everything that we needed. We were on the ground floor with a view of the courtyard. The only complaint was the stained carpet which was a bit off-putting and needed replacing / cleaning.

The business computer in the reception area was very useful. All the staff we met were pleasant and breakfast in the separate dining room was fine with a good choice of items.

At night it was only a short drive into Ruidoso for an evening meal.

Wonderful hotel. Comfortable and located in a nice tree covered area with a nice view of the mountains. Shopping and dining very close by. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful location in the hills across from Ruidoso Downs. It's an older motel but well kept and a good breakfast. It's quiet and away from the highways unlike so many Ruidoso hotels. It is also very pet friendly.

Room Tip: It's nice to be on the park side

We were in Ruidosos and Ruidoso Downs for the weekend as we have always wanted to attend the All American Derby and Futurity for Quarter Horse Racing. This is a huge weekend for this area and rooms are very hard to come by if not booked early and other hotels force you to book 3 nights as a minimum at well over $250/room/night. Our stay here was very comfortable. You are off and away from the traffic so the motel is quiet and somewhat secluded.

Such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. On top of a mountain in a very well cared for spot. The staff was great and the place was very clean in very aspect. The only complaint I have was the bed in our room needed a new mattress, but everything else was totally great. I will certainly stay again and I do recommend it to others. Great for groups.

We arrived Sunday, 8-11-13 for a 4 day stay @ 3:00PM; were told to check in after 4:00.Then they tried to charge us $20 for a pet fee, despite their internet price of $10.We refused, so they said ok.Monday morning we had no hot water. The front desk said they would tell maintenance. We couldn't shower until after 11 AM.We left at noon, half a day gone.Next morning same thing-no hot water. We left at 11AM. Got back at 4PM and room had not been cleaned. My wife complained, so they sent some towels and coffee. She had to go back and get toilet paper, and they were rude to her.No hot water yet so I tried to call front desk, but the "lady" was on the phone for 15 minutes at least.I went to the front desk, and she said she would tell maintenance. She said manager would be in at 8AM.I called at 8PM about still no hot water, and the "lady" hung up on me.We couldn't shower that day.Next morning we went to the office after 8AM to talk to the manager, and were told he wouldn't be in till afternoon. So we checked out a day and a half early on our "vacation", and were told the manager would call us.He never did.He did send a sarcastic email though, saying he was sorry they did not "exceed our expectations".He did not respond to my return email. The entire staff is rude. The gas BBQ grill didn't work. The front office lies to you.And the place is not cheap.NEVER STAY HERE ; THEY RUINED OUR GETAWAY VACATION.

Room Tip: Choose a different motel.
