Eventhough I love to visit Ruidoso, NM, this is the first time that I spend the night at Ramada. My window was facing the East, and for some reason, there was a spotlight shinning right on the side of the building. This was not the problem, the problem was that the window shades would not close all the way, and they were too short for the window. So all night long the light blasted its light right through our window and right in my face. Then the early morning sunshine also blasted its light right through the window. The short window shades that did not close properly, and were too short were powerless to stop either the early morning sunlight or the spotlight's light. I did not get any rest. Early in the morning, i informed the clerk at the, and all that he could say was that some people bring their own clips to clip the shades in the closed position. I wonder what they brought from home to extend the window shades to keep the sunlight and the spotlight's light from beaming through the bottom. In short I did not sleep at all. This motel ruined my whole weekend.

Great staff, friendly and helpful

The only complaint is I was locked out of my room 15 minutes before checkouty time. It seema the computer and the clocks may not be in synch. Had to make a trip to the lobby to have the hostess let me in.

Although the hotel looks good from the outside and the lobby area is very clean, the rooms show heavy wear and tear and are not very clean. Our room had visible debris on the carpet, it looked like a piece of dog food (I hope that's what it was any way) crumbs and quite a few of those plastic tabs that attach labels to new clothes. The wallpaper had been gouged over a 3-4 sq ft area, the ceiling was partially repaired and the bathroom had several very loose tiles on the floor.

On the plus side, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast available had several options and as items were depleted, the staff replaced them with fresh items.

This property is in sore need of attention. The wallpaper was coming off the walls in several places, the stopper in our sink did not work, the toilet seat was loose and the grout needed repair. Housekeeping needs a swift boot in the ***. Light fixtures were coated with dust, one of the blankets had a large rip in the center of it, a dead fly was found in the other bed and upon returning to our room on the second day of our stay, it was clear that the toilet had not been cleaned. Dried excrement was still on the porcelain. It is my opinion that one of the reasons for at least some of these deficiencies is that the hotel is understaffed. The desk clerk on the morning shift is also responsible for stocking and refilling the breakfast buffet in addition to answering the phones and taking care of the guests at the desk. This caused a back up at the desk on more than one occasion. While I was waiting to check out, another guest checking out ahead of me had many of the same complaints about the property (dust, dirt, poorly maintained, etc.). This person was a long-time, frequent guest and mentioned how greatly things had changed since she first started staying there. She also said that she wouldn't be back. My friends and I won't be going back either. I feel sorry for the staff we met. They were really very friendly and obviously embarrassed by the things we told them were wrong with our rooms. If the owners don't correct these deficencies, watching the bottom line by economizing won't matter because they won't have any business and these nice people will all lose their jobs.
