“The Pearl in the "and Beyond " safari Camps.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

Here we have in my opinion the best of the best. The most comfortable "tents" set in the most idle setting. Run by a first class staff of happy smiling enthusiastic people. Barney and Adam were stars in the tracking field (how many guests see a pride of lions and 5 different leopards on one single morning game drive all by 8.30am). Would recomment Ngala Tented to anyone.

I was looking forward to staying here after having a perfect experience at Ulusaba but was disappointed in everything from the staff. Just to mention a few, making us wait an hour for our private transfer, dropping our carry on fragile items in the mud, delivering bags to wrong room, mixing up our laundry in with someone else's underwear. The safari guides could not find anything requested, we asked to see Rhinos and Ceetahs, after 3 days only found two small male Rhinos. Their website is a joke where they say they have plenty of these. All the safari guide managed to do is drive over bushes and small trees in the bush full of spiders and their webs. If you don't like spiders you will hate it. Would not recommend anyone ever stay here. Any other lodge is better than this.

A truly wonderful location. Saw the Big Five in the space of a few days, including my best ever leopard sighting, and were treated to five star service, accommodation and food. I would recommend this place to anyone for the ultimate safari experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a tent facing the riverbed.

We spend 4 very successful days in Ngala Tented Camp. All the 9 rooms look the same. Spacious tents with a king bed, big bathroom, outdoor shower. Each group has his own Butler, who takes care of you. The chefs are proposing and explaining daily the lunch or dinner menus. They try to satisfy your wishes as best as they can in the wilderness...
We loved it... Top Rangers guides you twice a day. No TV no Radio, free wifi only at the main lodge.

Ngala Tented Camp was just what I was hoping it would be - stylish, friendly, comfortable, and luxurious without being stuffy or twee. The animal sightings were outta this world - on our first afternoon we saw a huge herd of elephants, including tiny calves, and a family of cheetah and from there the list only grew: giraffe, hippos, leopard, lions, rhino, buffalo, hyena, and the amazing wild dogs. Our ranger Dylan and tracker Adam were passionate and extremely knowledgeable and went to great lengths to make sure we got a good view of the animals. They really made the whole trip. I was travelling alone, following on from a trip to Cape Town with friends, and was a big worried I'd be uncomfortable being there by myself. There was no reason for worry though, because the staff were great and there were plenty of opportunities to have a chat with fellow guests, given that it's such a tiny camp. A wonderful candle-lit dinner in the bush one night was the perfect way to get to know other guests, from many countries around the world. The tents are quite glamorous. Super-comfortable with everything you could possibly want, including gin and tonic on tap in your mini-bar. Food at the restaurant was varied, healthy and usually very good - quite amazing what can be produced from a kitchen that feels so 'remote' from civilisation! Watch out for George the local warthog....he sometimes sleeps under the tents and snores his head off! I was there for four nights but three would probably be plenty to see everything you want to see.

Room Tip: Tent 1 is the furthest from the main reception and restaurant, and closest to the river, if you are...

We traveled on November 2013 to this fantastic place and we can truly say, it was the best trip of our lives.
All the Andbeyond team is just great. Beginnig with our contact person who arange all the trip, in our case was Leandre Theron, she was so helpful and after several changes and lots of emails, she made us the perfect ittineray.
Our first stop was Ngala Tentend Camp and was a great option to start our safari experience. It has a rustic and wildlife sense but will all the amenities of a 5 stars place.
The lodge is amazing, with beautiful common areas.(love the plunge) The tented suites are lovely, spacious, well decored and with everything you can need.
As the main attraction of a safar, we enjoy each game drive with our local ranger Derrick discovering this amazaing game reserve.
But now we can say that the best part is the whole andbeyond experience. they really worked in offer you a luxury service and make you feel a special guest.
Taking care about every single detail is the only way to reach this objective and they know how to do it.
You can expect your laundry perfectly packed with a nice handwrite note, a romantic dinner in your tent with everything perfectly set, a pancakes breakfst in the middle of the reserve or end your night and find your tub full´of candles, rose petals, bath bubbles and sparkling wine.

I will not forget to mention the food, we found it fantastic, kind of spicy as we loved, beautiful presented and perfectly made with local and fresh ingredients, even morning tea, breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffe, cocktails or dinner time (yes you eat all day and everything is delicious), you will find something you just love.
This is really the best option for those who want to experience all the magnificent natural resources that South Africa can offer, just with a big twist of luxury, service and romantic spirit.
Thanks Ngala Tented Camp and all the lodge team, for make our dream Africa trip so unforgettable.
