“An absolute gem!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

This was my favorite place in south Africa!! This lodge is absolutely beautiful first of all and it is luxury accommodations at its best! The game drives were absolutely amazing! Freedom was our ranger and he was awesome! The staff was wonderful! The spa is so beautiful! While you are getting a spa treatment it is so serene and you will see a beautiful impala or waterbuck walk right by, just beautiful! The meals were amazing! Amazing! You must stay here!!! A special thanks goes to Florence,Rodney,Freedom, and Thomas thanks for making our stay a wonderful and memorable one!

We were there for 4 nights and the experience was incredible. Our ranger was very helpful and knowledgeable. He patiently answered all our questions, and was very friendly. He made sure that we saw the Big Five before we left the place (though we missed the leopard).
The rooms were huge and the view was incredible. We could see the giraffes, impalas, and other animals from our balcony. In the morning, we would take a break for tea and rusks and in the evening, we would break for drinks while we watch the sunset.
For dinner, we would have our ranger and the safari group dine and mingle. Overall, an excellent experience for a private game reserve.

This was the second time we had been there! The first time we stayed only two days, but this time we enjoyed more, because we had six nigths and days. Since our arrival to our check out we had all attention and kindness, we could expect. The staff outstanding, food excellant. You could imagine have the dinner under the stars, with a beautiful fire and charming company? We saw all the big fives in the Bush. Even in the second rainy day, that I don' t went to the Safari, I saw animais through the window of the bedroom. Thanks to the staff, especially our nices ranger, J.T. and the tracker, Bhernard and one of the manager, Mr. Thomas.
I hope to be there many other times!

Room Tip: If you can you need more than 5 days to enjoy all the attractions, including the spa.

We stay for 2 nights and loved it. The four safari trips were brilliant. The best place for safari is the first seat ,at the first row behind the driver. We only see 4 of the big five during the safari and they stop for drinks outised the jeep but dont adviser us must to pay for the drink. The food is included in the price and are delicious. Remember getting warm clothes for ealy morning and after dusk.

Room Tip: HIgher Floor Are The best,I stay room nunber 42

Definetly is the best Safari around South Africa. The River Lodge is an amazing hotel and all of staff are outstanding and helpful. Delicious food. The especial moment is during the dinner out. Magnific! You can see the big 5 during the Safari.

We only stayed for one night (it was a one year anniversary celebration) and I think that was the problem. You really need to stay for a few nights to enjoy the experience Kapama has to offer.

The food, safaris, rooms and the pool were absolutely brilliant. An experience of a life time.

Most of the staff were brilliant and went out of their way to make you feel welcome and engage in conversation with you. Some of the female staff weren't as friendly and I felt a little funny when we were paying our bill...her sour face/attitude didn't belong in such a fantastic place.

I loved Kapama and if it wasn't for the family that we were visiting in Phalaborwa we would have stayed longer. I would give it a 9.5 out of 10

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view of the sunset...if you choose to miss one of your Safaris a spa bat...

One of the most beautiful hotels I've ever been. Everything was at superlativ starting from rooms ending with the staff. The safari trips were incredible. And the prices for spa and other accesories were resonably balanced.
