“Amazing Safari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Definetly is the best Safari around South Africa. The River Lodge is an amazing hotel and all of staff are outstanding and helpful. Delicious food. The especial moment is during the dinner out. Magnific! You can see the big 5 during the Safari.

We only stayed for one night (it was a one year anniversary celebration) and I think that was the problem. You really need to stay for a few nights to enjoy the experience Kapama has to offer.

The food, safaris, rooms and the pool were absolutely brilliant. An experience of a life time.

Most of the staff were brilliant and went out of their way to make you feel welcome and engage in conversation with you. Some of the female staff weren't as friendly and I felt a little funny when we were paying our bill...her sour face/attitude didn't belong in such a fantastic place.

I loved Kapama and if it wasn't for the family that we were visiting in Phalaborwa we would have stayed longer. I would give it a 9.5 out of 10

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view of the sunset...if you choose to miss one of your Safaris a spa bat...

One of the most beautiful hotels I've ever been. Everything was at superlativ starting from rooms ending with the staff. The safari trips were incredible. And the prices for spa and other accesories were resonably balanced.

I stayed at Kapama River Lodge in March 2012 with a group of colleagues/friends. Rooms are fabulous, extremely roomy with a very tasteful bathroom and comfortable beds. Safe in the room with room for laptop etc which is great.
The spa facilities are amazing and very reasonably priced. Make sure you allow for a morning or afternoon off from safari activities to indulge yourself - I can guarantee you will enjoy it.
Meals are buffet and of a very good standard. This is a larger lodge but still has a fantastic atomosphere.

Really an amazing hotel! Beautiful room - clean and secluded - the air-conditioning saved our lives ;)
The food and service was also wonderful - very friendly staff. The spa was so beautiful, lovely setup over-looking the hippo dam. Also saw a LOT of animals - our guide on the game drives was very clued up, friendly and funny. Everything was great - I would definitely visit again!

My wife and I were on a Globus organized tour of South Africa and one of the stops was 4 days at Kapama River Lodge.
We truly imressed with the location and the services provided to us during our stay.
The Manager Tom was available at all times to assist us in any way. Our Safari tour guide Piet and the Spotter Las were most professional and went out of their way to assure a maximum sighting of all animals, birds and Flora that the park could offer to us. The hotel was extremely clean and affordable. Food on site was delicious. A dinner performance by the staff was very moving. No negative comments can be put forward

Room Tip: If you can, choose Piet and Las as your guides

It was our first visit to the Krugger park, I do not have other reference to benchmark, but the standard of the hotel is excellent. Room service very professionnal, food is very nice with wide an varied selection for all meals. The breakfast was our favorite! But hotel features aside which were superb in the middle of the pampa, the services around the safaris were EXCELLENT!! Our ranger, Maggy, along with the tracker Casual did a very nice job to introduce us to the wildlife. Thanks to their perseverant an effective searches, we managed to see the Bid 5, with luck to see the lion the last day! It was raining, but it built on the experience. Riding along in the 4x4 with pouring rain & waterproof ponchos was something! One recommandation is definately to go to the bush walk, where only a few guests are going, it is actually a good opportunity to see other little things which are very interesting, I will not reveal the details to keep the thrill up!

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpfull. We spent 2 nights there, and reckon 1 more might be good to enjoy the spa which we did not have time to experiment, but we did not come for this;

We hired a car from Avis at the Airport to drive back to Joburg, a very nice drive through the moutains, nice stop in Dullstroom for lunch where there are some tipical restaurants. The road is a bip bumpy until there but after that is is lovelly. Being from São Paulo, the reads in South Africa were mint!
