“Kjel has everything just right.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

We arrived late, but Kjel was waiting for us ready to go out on our first game drive. A quick drop of bags and off we went, looking for game, then a sundown rest stop and drink, then back to the accommodation for welcoming drinks and dinner. everyone got everything just right. accommodation was great, We had the room with the outside shower, The family got the twin rooms with the Spa on the deck. the communal area has a bar, pool two decks overlooking the river. meals were fantastic, and the whole atmosphere is like you are family. Kjel did all he could to find game for us, and on the final morning he succeeded in finding the one we had missed with a close up of a lion with a fresh kill of a Giraffe. Fantastic place to stay with fantastic people what more can you ask for.

We stayed at Enkoveni for 3 nights and all I can say is that it was a fantastic experience! sadly we didn't see the BIg 5 but that din't spoil a thing. The experience of the team is second to none and they gave valuable information.
The accommodation is amazing and the food brilliant!
All the staff are always smiling and even getting up at 5.30am was pleasurable and definitely worth it!
I cannot rate Naledi highly enough and would recommend it to anybody

Room Tip: All rooms have superb view over the river. The camp is set in En...

We had two memorable days at Naledi mid January. To begin, the weather was not conducive to game drives....especially the day we arrived as it was raining heavily. However, Kjell offered us the option of a afternoon game drive in his private covered vehicle......4by 4 naturally. And what an experience. While most animals were keeping dry Kjell took us to a spot where two lions were feeding on a recent kill. From then on the game drives kept getting better as did the weather.
We saw four of the big five....leopards are not big on rain apparently....including two rare black rhinos.

As far as the accommodation and food......excellent, as was the service. The staff were super and we wanted for nothing. When you consider the food, accommodation and game drives I feel Naledi provides great value.

Having said all that, in our opinion, what really made this a five star experience was Kjell. His love of the country, passion for what he does, desire to share his little piece of the planet and concern for the animals and environment show through in everything he does. Yes, we saw animals....but we also saw animals at Addo and Kruger.....however with Kjell we also learned so much.....and there in lies the difference. (Well, the food and accommodation and service were also obviously top notch). We also went on a bush walk with Prem, our tracker, who also was extremely knowledgable and showed us a lot that is missed on a drive.

Room Tip: We saw both camps and I don't think you can go wrong in either camp. As for rooms......we stayed...

We stayed at Naledi lodge at Enkoveni for three nights and everything was wonderful.
Our Impala Lily suite is just in front the Olifants river and the view was fantastic. The quality of the lodge is very high, and everything is really accurate. And also all the staff was nice and helpful.
In the kitchen work cooks that arrange every day something special from the breakfast to dinner both for the flavor and the presentation.
Safaris are really gorgeous. We saw most of the big five and much more.
We did appreciate the lodge and we do recommend it to anyone want to live in paradise for few days.

Hello,
I will try to answer some of the questions I was looking for before booking this trip. Some generic and some for Naledi bushcamp. We were doing this as our first safari experience ever and my expectations were in one way quite high, but on the other hand I had no idea what to expect.
Just to mention during our holiday we tried several different safaris and we were in Balule, Krüger, Imfolozi, Addo and a few more. So now after the return we can really compare the different ones.

The first questions we asked ourself before booking was if it is better with selfdrive (i.e. krüger) or private game reserve as Balule/Naledi. From our expereince now I can definitly say that the private game resserve was worth it. Perhaps not since you see more animals because I belive that was similar or less then in the other self-drive reserves. But because you come very very close to the animals and you can see them from a open game vehicle which is a much more impressive feeling then if you drive yourself. Imagine getting within 1 meter of a Lion...that is how close we got.

The other thing that we were looking for was a place with not too many people. We wanted to be sure that we didnt travel around with a big "bus" during the safari. And here Naledi is perfect. They have two camps, wereas we stayed at the little big smaller but older lodge which only has four double rooms. Which means that you are only 8ppl maximum at the safari. This is perfect group size. When we were there we were 3ppl the first night and 5ppl the 2nd night.

They do 2 gamedrives a day and then in addition you can chose from doing two other activites between the gamedrives. Either going on a bushwalk or staying in hide looking for animals.

The accomodation, restaurant, food, relaxing spots etc are very very nice at Naledi. Perhaps even a bit more they you would look for. But was a nice place to relax between the activities since getting up at 5am and getting to bed at 11pm makes you tired in the end.

So to summarize it all: I can really recommed Naledi. Especially if you are looking for a place which is not overrun by people and has very good gamedrives.

Before I write my review I will conclude with this: "Naledi sits in my top 3 experiences of all time!"
Our family (2 adults and 2 kids) arrived at Naledi tired and worn out after a long drive and a lot of site seeing. Alicia greeted us with smiles and welcomed us with drinks. Our car was taken care of, luggage delivered to our accommodation while formalities were completed.
We stayed for 4 nights in the Leadwood Suite with our own private bar, plunge pool, sun deck and inquisitive monkeys deciding if the Levin's are "OK".
Our accommodation was the best of the best with every convenience and unusual bathrooms which were beautiful. I marveled and smiled every time we came back home from game drives to just relax and absorb what we have just done. Perfection!
I loved communal dining as we met wonderful people while Lucas announced what had been prepared and what will be served. Attentive but unobtrusive staff made each dining experience absolutely enjoyable, wonderful and a culinary delight. Lucas, you are a legend! Thank you!!
We were always accompanied at meal times by Kjell (owner) and / or Alicia (manager) and this just made us a part of the Naledi family.
We went on game drives with early morning starts and late afternoon sessions. Our safari experiences are best described in pictures, but a few (badly chosen) words will suffice.
Prem our tracker and Kjell our conservationist are experts in every way. We were part of all the hard work that brought the Big 5 to us. Each time we saw animals up close and personal was life changing. To be part of the natural world in such an intimate way was mind blowing, confronting, sometime frightening and almost unbelievable to think about. (In many ways I learned a great deal about myself and I was humbled by such beauty and wildness. This was not part of my "contract" with Kjell, but I am so glad it was).
Our family love Naledi Bushcamp. We cannot recommend enough that if you are deciding to go on safari, Naledi will deliver you a very real safari backed up by a wonderful and professional team that simply cannot be beat!
It was a privilege to have visited Naledi Bushcamp and will definitely return.
Thank You Naledi. You are KING!

We love Naledi.

Room Tip: Leadwood Suite are secluded and private, beautiful and top of class. Great for a family

We stayed for three nights at the Bushbuck room at the Enkoveni Camp. It was truly an unforgettable experience! The day planning is an early drive (around 5.30), a mid-day walk and an afternoon drive (around 16.00). This all depends on the weather. On our first day the the morning drive and the walk were unfortunately cancelled due to very heavy rain. But eventually we had four drives and one walk and saw a lot of animals. Among others: a lion, an elephant, several giraffes, wart hogs, a jackall, a snake, zebras, hippos and two black rhinos! But nothing is guaranteed. This is nature too. Sometimes you drive around without seeing anything for half an hour or longer or the jeep gets stuck in the mud. But the surroundings are beautiful and we only saw two other jeeps driving around in the same area (one of Naledi themselves). This gives it a real special atmosphere. This must be really different compared to general drives in the Krugerparks where dozens of cars gather around a single animal. The staff do all they can to make it a great experience. The food is excellent. The rooms are very nice, although they could be somewhat more bug-proof. Monkeys are in the area and other guests saw hippos and a crocodile nearby. Wifi is available (it's best in the central building). It might not be the cheapiest safari, but all drives are included and there is a feel of luxury. I highly recommend Naledi!
