“Experience of a lifetime!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Where do we even begin to describe our outstanding stay at Londolozi Tree Camp? We spent the beginning of our honeymoon at Londolozi Tree Camp and had the time of our lives. Everything was perfect and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. The staff at Tree Camp, Marc, Jess, Robert and our ranger and tracker, Tom and Jerry were all fabulous. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with smiles and warmth. Everyone knew our name, congratulated us on our marriage and honeymoon and were extremely personal. Marc, Jess and Robert were absolutely amazing and very friendly. It was very special because by the time it was time to leave, we truly felt like we were friends with each of them.

The accommodations were beautiful and extremely comfortable. The food was amazing and we enjoyed it so much that we left with several recipes and begging the staff to put out a cookbook. Our game drives were incredible. Tom and Jerry are an incredible team and their enthusiasm for their jobs was unparalleled. Without Tom and Jerry's expertise our safari experience would have have been what it was. Tom and Jerry's close relationship with each other and with the animals was amazing to watch. Every game drive brought an exciting experience and their unbelievable tracking skills led us to all of the animals and witnessing incredible experiences. Tom and Jerry are wonderful and caring people. Their positive attitude, love for the bush was contagious. They were always checking in with us during the game drives to make sure we were comfortable. We felt very lucky to be matched up such an amazing team. The various activities that they organized at night, from the wine pairings to cocktails and star gazing in the bush were exceptional. They really think of everything and the experience at Londolozi is relaxing, entertaining and a wonderful learning experience.

Londolozi is a remarkable place and truly feels like home. The staff takes great care of making sure every guest has the trip of a lifetime and makes sure every experience is the best it can be. This safari experience at Londolozi was like nothing else we have ever done and exceeded every expectation.

Tree Lodge at Londolozi is a beautiful, extremely expensive, and luxurious facility set in an amazing area. The game viewing is excellent - not only the justly famous Londolozi leopards, but also a range of other game large and small. The rooms offer every comfort and even individual (although unheated) plunge pools. The staff is attentive and works hard to make sure that you are pleased. Some of the rangers/trackers are excellent. The price makes it hard to call this a good "value", but it is a very good way to see an amazing area.

After our 2 nights in Royal Livingstone, we flew to Kruger Game Reserve. We stayed at Londolozi Tree Camp for 5 nights. Our lodge comes with balcony and a small Jacuzzi ( all to yourself) the room, living room and the bathroom over looking the fantastic view of the nature. Breakfast plenty to eat. Your guide will wake you up by 6am and brings you coffee and some cookies before your morning game drive. You will meet the driver by 6.30. The game drive be over by 10am if nothing you see along the way. Return to the lodge you will have breakfast or early lunch and rest till about 4pm. You will go for your evening game drive and return around 6.30 or 7pm. Dinner will be serve buffet style if the lodge is full house (Boma dinner). If the lodge is not full, than you will have candle light dinner outdoor. On our last night at the lodge, left only me and my husband. The staff did a great job! When we came back from our evening game drive, our room was set up for our romantic dinner and the bathroom full of candles and rose petals. We see many Leopards along the way, elephants, Hippos and more... We had a great time, what makes it even better our driver and guide are excellent and experience! Will we return to Londolozi?? The answer is yes, it's 1st class service!!

Room Tip: Londolozi has only 6 rooms, so no worries all rooms are the same.

We spent 3 amazing nights at Londolozi Tree Camp during our trip to South Africa. Londolozi was such a special place...we loved everything the place stands for and words just can't do it justice! From being picked up at the airstrip with warm happy welcoming faces to arriving at Tree Camp with a wonderful greeting- we couldn't have been happier! Our Suite was gorgeous! It was great sitting and watching the elephants with a glass of sparkling wine from our deck outside!

One of the things that really makes Londolozi special is the amazing drives- we had an awesome ranger and tracker that made our drives exciting, informative and fun! Off roading tracking leopards and lions was thrilling! The Coffee/Tea on the morning drives and the Sundowners in the evening were great! It was definitely a busy schedule- wake up call at 6am, drive at 6:30am until around 10am, followed by breakfast, a short break before lunch, lunch was around 2:30, second drive at 3pm, back around 6:45pm and dinner was at 7pm. We didn't mind though and wanted to be there for each of the drives to have the opportunity to see these beautiful and amazing animals in their natural setting! You have the opportunity to go on a Village walk or even take a yoga class at the Varty Deck before lunch. You can also arrange for a massage on the balcony of your deck. The food was great too! You definitely will not go hungry during your stay here! All the food from breakfast, lunch and dinner were all fantastic! The Boma dinner was beautiful too!

The service here was really outstanding. Everyone was always happy to help and you just got a warm feeling from check in to check out. There was a family feel to Londolozi that was so refreshing! We stayed at another lodge during our South Africa trip that was definitely not anywhere close to the experience we had at Londolozi! The entire time we were at the other camp we were wishing we were back at Londolozi!!!

Some tips:
-Bring some warm clothes for the morning and evening drives- it can get chilly out there in an open vehicle.
-Take the Airhop!! It might be extra but at least you get to the lodge in time for some lunch and the next drive. We did the airhop from Kruger airport to Londolozi and also from londolozi to our next lodge.
-They will do complimentary laundry at the lodge so you don't need to overpack, especially since the airhops really limit the amount of luggage you can take with you.

If you are deciding on a place to stay I would definitely recommend Londolozi Tree Camp. You can't really go wrong with this amazing place!

Everything about Londolozi was just perfect- I wish I was back there right now! Special thanks to Lisa, James and Mike (our ranger and tracker) and Rob for making our trip awesome! We hope to be able to go back and visit again sometime soon.

Thanks for an amazing experience!

Room Tip: All the rooms at Tree Camp looked great!

My husband and I decided to take a three week trip through Southern Africa to celebrate our 16 year wedding anniversary. We did a lot of research about the different lodges in Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa before eventually choosing Londolozi Tree Camp for a three night stay. Londolozi initially won out due to the fact that they never cram more than six people in a jeep, always leaving the middle seats available. As it turns out, everything about Londolozi Tree Camp is amazing and exclusive. From the moment we arrived, we knew that we had made the right decision. We were greeted so warmly with delicious champagne, cold towels and smiles by Mark, the manager of Londolozi Tree Camp and Tresta the lady who would be our assistant for our stay. We were soon introduced to Kirsty, another manager and Melvin/Milton who would be our Ranger and Tracker on the game drives for the next few days. Although we had arrived early, we were offered a lovely gourmet buffet lunch and tea and dessert. All of the staff made us feel very comfortable and excited about the days ahead. Our hotel room was actually a small house with a beautiful living room and the bathroom was huge with double sinks a huge tub and both an indoor and outdoor shower. The outdoor shower was wonderful and there was also a small plunge-pool on the patio. The patio was a nice area to sit and read or watch wildlife. Our suite for the entire length of our stay was and remained spotlessly clean and bug free which is an absolute miracle considering that we were in "the bush". The best part of Londolozi and the most important reason to visit are the bush drive safaris that are twice per day (early morning and early evening) and last for three to four hours each. I thought that it would be a challenge rising at 5 a.m. for the a.m drive, but we were woken each am by a staff member with delicious coffee, muffins and cookies and after the first morning, I looked forward to our wake-up visit and morning game drive. We were so lucky to be assigned Melvin and Milton as our Ranger and Tracker. They are two of the nicest, responsible and competent people and we had the best time with them. When our vacation ended, we felt that we had made two friends. Melvin seemed to have a unique insight and understanding of the different animals and told us many anecdotes and taught us a great deal about the various traits of every animal breed that we encountered. He also told us stories about several specific animals that he had studied during his years as a Ranger at Londolozi. It was so interesting. After awhile, I learned from Melvin how to distinguish some of the different lions from one another and to sense whether an animal seemed agitated or happy. Melvin and Milton made our stay very exciting and enjoyable with many “off-road” expeditions in search of leopard, lion, rhinos, hyenas, elephant and many other interesting animals. We were even part of a rescue mission where another tracker had gotten between a female lion and her cubs - it was just incredible and we arrived just in time to save him!!! While Londolozi Tree Camp is a wonderful resort with fantastic cuisine, accomodations and facilities, what truly makes it unique is the caring staff and all of the work they put in to making their guests happy. One evening we returned to our suite after evening safari to find lit candles and rose petals all over the home, champagne chilling and a hot bath waiting for us. Another evening we were surprised with a full cocktail party set up for just my husband and myself out in the bush under the starlit sky where we sipped cocktails while observing Impala, Wilderbees and Hyenas. It was just magical. I was so impressed that an “all-inclusive” resort would exert so much additional effort, creativity and cost to give us one of the best vacation experiences of our lives. It was the perfect way to spend our anniversary.

My husband and I stayed at Tree Camp for four nights and all I can say is that it was a wonderful experience. The manager at the time, Nicki was brilliant and couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable. The game was fabulous .... you go there to see leopards and we saw plenty of them. As well as a lovely group of 7 young lions which we saw a couple of times.

The accommodation is stunning and we wanted for nothing whilst there. The food was top notch. You would expect food like this in a big city, not in the middle of the bush. And of course made more exciting by trying to beat the vervet monkey to the fruit for the breakfast :)

I would also highly recommend a walk through the bush. We walked with Zachariah who was the nicest guy and so knowledgable. Nothing like taking a walk and watching 7 giraffes walk with you .... ok they were about 50 metres away but still a beautiful experience.

We have travelled to Africa many times but Londolozi stands out amongst the crowd. We would definitely return and hope to in the not too distant future.
