“A wonderful lodge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2011

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while traveling around New Mexico. I decided to reserve a room here based on the excellent reviews. I am very glad we chose this lodge as it is an excellent stay and one of the best places we stayed during our 12-day trip. The lodge is in a beautiful garden setting with a long porch where we could relax, watch the birds and enjoy the forest scenery and fresh air. I am an avid bird watcher and the lodge has hummingbird feeders, bird houses and seed feeders throughout the property. The room was quite lovely and large. It included a queen bed, fireplace (we did not use), small kitchen, kitchen table and couch. It was so comfortable to relax in the room. The owner is very pleasant and check in was easy. The parking lot was not far from the room. The lodge is located quite close to shopping, restaurants, etc. in Ruidoso, although most people would probably want to drive into town. Ruidoso is a lovely town and we enjoyed our stay here. We drove the Billy the Kid Scenic Byway with stops at the Hubbard Museum, historic town of Lincoln and Smoky Bear Park. All of these stops were very informative, interesting and worth a visit.

Would highly recommend staying here. We will certainly stay again if ever in the Ruidoso area.

We stayed in one of the four seperate cabins which are located at the head of a canyon. The cabins provide a measure of privacy and are the hot setup for a romantic getaway. They are practicle as they are equiped to allow a couple to eat in if they desire. At this time of year the temperatures allow for open windows so one does pick up some noise, esp. at night with barking dogs echoing down the canyon. A good location, a good value and a gas fireplace to set the mood.

Room Tip: Go for the cabins for the fresh air

My husband and I had a great time here. The cabin was perfect. There is everything you need in the kitchen and a cute dining area. A fireplace that doesn't require any hassle and a reclining couch topped it off for us. It is also conveniently located. It's enough away from the busy downtown area but within walking distance.

We were looking for the perfect weekend getaway and hit the jackpot on the Shadow Mountain lodge! We stayed in one of the cabins and wow it was awesome. It was very quiet and clean. These cabins have it all. The swivel entertainment center and see through fireplace was just too cool which enhanced your relaxation experience tothe max. Not many words can describe this place other than AMAZING! If you are looking for a cabin with all the amenities at a reasonable price than this is a must see! We will be back next time!

We stayed there for new year's eve (Dec 28th, 2010 to Jan 1st, 2011)
I really recommend this place, it's cozy, noiseless, fireplace, kitchen with all you need.
Worth every penny we spent. Very romantic place to spent with your couple.
One thing to consider, you won't get any cell phone signal at all. But it has internet service for those that can live without it. I promise we'll be back here next time.

Beautiful Place . Nice setting areas. Peaceful Landscaping. It is a very nice stay. We had stayed here @ 7 to 8 years ago , and it is the same today. We stayed in the off season this time, so rates were Ok. Summer season rates are to high for me to just sleep in a room. But this Is a Great place to stay. The fire log thing isn't too cool And the Broken hot tub, but it has fireplaces . I Do tell my friends and family about this place ! It is a great find.

We booked this lodge for couples because of the promise of a great outdoor hot-tub in the gazebo. Alas, it had been broken for a year, and may not be fixed until next year. However, the setting was lovely, the room large and comfortable, and the price was right.
