We were at Kirkmans this september. Our stay was just fabulous. The food, game drive, tour guide and everything else .. just perfect.
We stayed three days at Kirkmans and after that two days at Jo'burg. Along with our usual camera and camcorder - we had also taken a waterproof camera and camcorder. Since we did not need it for the safari - we packed it in our bags. The bags would just lie in the room while we were on safari.
When we reached back home we found that the camera and camcorder were missing from our bags. My heart says that this happened in the Jo'burg hotel but I cannot be a 100% sure. I just loved kirkamans and i dont want people to think that its not safe. But I would just advice ppl to lock their belongings in the safe and not take a chance like we did.
When they clean the room they leave the back door open for fresh air to come in. So we keep thinking what if something else came in and took it out from our bags (not the cleaning staff). Cannot blame anyone but its something I wanted people to know - just be little extra caution in Jo'burg and everything else in SA.
But just for the record - we would go back to kirkmans anytime. We loved it. But this time we'll keep things in the safe :).
