“Genuinely friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

Wrote a review on their sister lodge lukimbi and whilst not as luxurious as Lukimbi, Idube has its own charm and character and as expected, exceptional staff who are genuinely helpful and friendly (Managers Andrew and his lovely wife in particular). As mentioned in the Lukimbi review, it was the staff that really gave the place the personal touch and made us feel at home.

Idube's rooms are set amongst a lawn, and you can see impalas, nyalas, warthogs, monkeys roam and feed throughout the day. The rooms are comfortable and sufficient. Food was excellent as well.

We had accidentally left some money at Lukimbi and we were desperately searching for it whilst we were in Idube. Andrew and wife were sincerely apologetic and sympathetic even though it was no fault of theirs and purely due to our carelessness. They were also instrumental in helping us liase with Lukimbi (we had just checked out of idube and they were updating us through our drivers mobile phone).

Game drives were excellent. Saw the Big 5 and much more (each animal is beautiful in its own right)

In a few lines, if I were to go back to sabi sands, it will be Idube. The staff, driver and tracker have been amazing. I don't eat meat and the Chef was great. Thoroughly enjoyed every moment there!

My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to spend some time with Rudi and Melinda and their staff at Idube in January. It was the first time that either of us had been at a Private Game Lodge and we were so impressed by the professional staff at Idube. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. The food was of the highest standards. The ranger Promise that led our rides was informative and very friendly. Overall I can only give Rudi and his team two thumbs up. I will definately be telling all our friends about the wonderful time that we had and recommend it to them. Thanks so much.

Great place, great staff, great rangers - they respect nature and they help you experiencing nature, animals - fauna and flora - at the very best.
We will definitely come back.

Room Tip: Everyone of them is great!

My partner and I stayed at Idube for 4 days between the 19th and 23rd October and we can honestly say it was the best holiday we have ever been on for a variety of reasons.

To start, the staff are all fantastic, helpful and knowledgable about the surrounds. Rudy, Mel, Johandi, Andreis, Rob, Wessel and Titus were all incredible to us during our stay ranging from the mundane administration requirements, to our incessant questions regarding the flora and fauna. Upon arriving at Idube you are instantly made to feel welcome and the impression is that the entire bush is yours to share with nobody else. Having said that, the lodge is intimate enough to never feel crowded or overpowering.

The organisation of the game drives, walks, meals and time-out in between was perfect and gave us the opportunity to explore a little whilst always feeling safe and relaxed like a true holiday should. The food was fantastic and a wide variety was always available including fresh fruits at almost every meal.

We can happily say that we saw the big 5 within our first 2 game drives as well as wild dogs, giraffe, hyena, nyala, impala, bush buck, water buck, zebra, wildebeast, hippo's and many more species of bird and reptile life. The highlight would have to be the almost daily sightings of leopard, as well as twice having encounters with the lioness with her 2 month old cubs.

We built a great a rapport with ranger Wessel and Titus our tracker which made every game drive enjoyable, fun, exciting and a learning experience.

We would happily recommend Idube to anyone travelling to the Sabi Sands and cannot wait to return.

What a wonderful experience here. We spent two nights in combination with our stay at Lukimbi and are we ever so glad we did. Idube differs quite markedly from Lukimbi in many ways. It is not nearly as glamorous, but makes up for that in the quality of game viewing available. Promise and Maurice did a wonderful job of helping us to tick the Big 5 off our list and were really knowledgeable and helpful throughout our stay. Nothing really to fault here, except to perhaps state that the rooms are perhaps a little dated and the food choices were a little limited, however the finesse of the chef could not be denied. Other than that though the atmosphere was wonderful and I would have no hesitation in recommending Idube to my friends.

We spent 2 days at Idube and 2 days at Lukimbi. Both lodges are fantastic. Idube has the best game view and Lukimbi the best location for elephants and rhinos and because of the close river also for hippos and crocos!

In Idube we saw the big 5 during our first 2 drives. Ranger Andreis and tracker "Eagle-eye"-Titus didn't miss anything. From the leopard onto a tree, the lioness which had hunted an Impala for her two babies (Titus saw the las 10 cm of the lioness tail in the same colored high grass...thats why i call him Eagle-eye) and the 100 big buffel-herd....we did not miss anything!

Meals were in both lodges from a very high quality (my personal opinion as a chef myself). The teams were very kind and professional. We had the chance to meet the very charming owners of the lodges.

I suggest to stay first 2 nights at Lukimbi and then move to Idube!

Our stay at Idube (and after at Lukimbi) was definitively one of the most impressive we ever had! I only can reccomend these locations for everyone who wants an amazing experience!
