From the moment you step out of the car and are met by Gift or one of the other super helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble.

The game drives were fantastic, as was the food and accommodation.

You never wanted for anything, and if you asked the staff did their upmost to make it happen as quickly as possible.

It was so nice to almost step back in time when things were so simple and enjoyable.

You were really made to feel like family while staying at Nottens Bush, which I would guess was a legacy the Notten Family can be very proud to have instilled in the people that now work in and run the camp.

On my next visit to South Africa I will for sure be visiting Nottens Bush again.

I cannot say thank you enough. :):):)

Could not speak highly enough of Notten's Bush Camp. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and loved every minute. The staff are very professional, yet were more like friends than staff and couldn't do enough for us. The food is absolutely beautiful, so much so that we are looking out for their cook book which seemingly is ready soon! The game drives were very special, we were able to go off road and were very close to the animals - the fact that we saw the big 5 was an added bonus. The rangers really knew what they were doing and we felt very safe. The fact that the camp was lit by candlelight made it very special and not in the slightest bit commercial. Would love to go back some day!

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff of this luxurious yet down-to-earth bush camp in Sabi Sands, a part of the greater Kruger national park. The trip was recommended and booked through Regents Safaris in nearby Hazyview, and we spent two days having the time of our lives. The game drives morning and evening were exciting but very safe in the hands of our driver Thomas and tracker Craig. We saw all of the big five, with the highlight being a wonderful timewatching a male leopard who was marking his scent and preening himself. The home-prepared food and all-inclusive drinks were of the highest standard (in fact the brown bread was the best we'd ever tasted!) and our lamp and candle-lit room very comfortable with showeres inside and out, overlooking an expanse of the park. Monkeys played outside as we ate our meals and one evening a rhino was grazing happily nearby. The 20m pool and sunning area completed the holiday feel between the game drives and the whole family was sad to leave.

I cant say enough wonderful things about Notten's. From the moment you arrive, you feel like a guest in someone's home with superior service. The bush camp has been run by the Notten family for decades, and Dave Notten not only run's the camp, but ensures his guests have a wonderful experience. He has hired passionate staff who attend to every detail. Because the camp only has eight rooms, everyone is treated like family. Everyone in camp gets to know everyone else by name, and everyone eats together at the same table. The house staff attend to every guest from the moment they get up with a gentle rap on the door at 5:30 am, to when they walk you back to your room after dinner (since the camp is in the bush -- the camp does enjoy other non-paying guests). Meals are plentiful and ay time my hand was empty -- not a few seconds went by before I was being offered a drink (all included in the price).

Of course the highlight and the reason for being in the bush is to see the game. Notten's excels at this. Being in a private reserve (Sabi Sands) adjacent to Kruger, you see all the game in Kruger -- but better. Notten's has extensive territory to cover, sharing land privileges with the adjacent Sabi Sabi lodges. The drivers will go off track to sight the Big Five -- so you get real up close and personal with the game.Sabi Sands has all of the big five, and apparently more leopard than most places. This was evidenced by not only two leopard sightings, but two leopard kills! The rangers and spotters are so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. My driver ( Chase) had the ability to predict animals behavior and activity -- so much so that he placed us at the right place and right time to observe two prides of lions engaged in a territory battle -- only metres from all the fighting. If two games drives don't meet your need for game, Chase guides a game walk after morning tea. Being without the barrier of steel and acceleration in the rover does get the adrenalin flowing.

For those wondering about length of stay -- 2 days minimum, 3 days allowed me to recognize all the game and even start naming some of the birds, 4 would be plenty.

I can;t wait to go back -- even thinking about bringing a group of mates and get exclusive use of the camp. Highly recommend!

We stayed here at the end of a 2 week stay in South Africa.
We'd been recommended Nottens as an amazing place to experience our first safari. When you're spending that much money, you do hope you're not disappointed (so tripadvisor was very valuable). To us, it was great value compared to some others in the area.
I can't remember the last time I'd felt as relaxed than when at Nottens

Wildlife - We saw the big 5 within the first 2 game drives which set the standards high!! The rangers and trackers are amazing and can get you amazingly close to the animals. The fact the lodge has no gates/fences really adds to the experience with animals potentially walking past your room and window. We even had a couple of elephants in camp one evening!!
Make sure you do the walking safari too - certainly gets the adrenalin going!
The lodge - you really feel like part of one big group with meals and drives with the other guest. It's a lovely size, with 8 rooms meaning there's not too many people at once to mean you still get individual attention. The staff at Nottens are fantastic making you feel at home from day 1. Gift in particular was brilliant. They seem to really value their staff, training them in the various different areas of running the lodge and they all seem to really enjoy their work. The food was amazing, you will not go hungry! Some meals were outside near the open fire, some were in the veranda area.

I'd recommend the lodge to anyone, the fact some South African guests who were there at the same time said it was the best lodge they'd ever been to says a lot too.

Room Tip: Intimate, friendly, amazing wildlife experience

We had limited time to experience Nottens, but it was a fantastic experience. The Sabi Sands is full of lodges that offer excellent game viewing in arguably one of the best game viewing regions in Africa. Nottens main drawing point is that its small and intimate. The lodge does not have electricity (except in reception) and all lighting is by lamps, but this adds to the experience. The rooms are large and extremely comfortable. On a fully inclusive basis, the lodge does offer excellent value for money.
