“A Little Pricey but Well Worth It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2010

Checked out all the lodging in Red River and decided to spend the little bit more to stay at the Alpine. They are the largest lodge in town and had the most options to pick from. Their rooms are a little higher but from what I could tell they did offer by far the most in terms of amenities. They have a large park on the river with swings, bbq grills, playgrounds, horseshoes and volleyball, and a nightly campfire. They also offer private fishing, two large hot tubs, a fitness center and a dry sauna. The location can't be beat and the grounds are beautiful.
We initially rented a small two bedroom condo but upgraded to a larger one once we arrived and were glad we did because the exrtra room was nice. Did not use the fireplace even though it was cooling down into the 40's at night (enjoyed the cool mountain air too much to heat the place up) The kitchen was fully equipped and allowed us to cook more and eat out less. This was an added benefit because the restaurants were so packed in the evenings.
Yes, in the end we paid a little more to stay at this place but felt it was well worth it. Everything was clean, people were very accomodating, the property was beautiful, and, what the heck, we were on vacation. We were very pleased with our decision to stay here!

Thank you so much for the kind comments about our property and the amenities we offer. We do have the widest price range of accommodations in Red River with rooms ranging from a lodge room with a single queen bed to a four bedroom cabin which can sleep twelve (and everything in between) We are proud of all the amenities we are able to offer our guests and have more planned for the future. Thank you again for the kind words and we hope to host you again soon!

Our family has been staying at the Alpine for several years for different occasions. We have stayed several places in Red River, but have found the Alpine the most consistently relaxing and enjoyable of all places. Whether our children were just toddlers or as they are now teenagers, we all look forward to seeing our 'home away from home'. From the moment you drive on to the property, the cleanliness of the grounds is picture perfect. Because the Alpine is right on the river, we get that mountain feeling even though we are within walking distance of everything in town. It's right in the heart of town and the ski area, but when we get to our room, it's so quiet and peaceful. Each year we look forward to seeing what's been upgraded or remodeled. The owners work at the property and it's very obvious they take personal pride in the Alpine. All the staff are friendly and responsive to anything we need and are good at offering suggestions when we have questions. We would not stay any other place and highly recommend the Alpine to anyone.

Wow! We love hearing that our hard work is being noticed by our loyal ‘repeat’ guests – it is absolutely the best part of the business – getting to know quality families such as your family. It is rewarding for all of us here at the Alpine and absolutely makes everything worth it! Thank you!

We stayed overnight in the Honeymoon Suite. Everything was decent, but if you are imagining an "alpine lodge" in the sense of a real European alpine lodge, this is not nearly as spiffy. Everything was decent and clean, but some things were showing clear signs of age, such as the bathroom sink. The honeymoon suite has a king bed, sofa, fireplace, and an L-shaped deck. The room is a bit larger than a typical hotel room with king; the bathroom is certainly no larger than average. The towels and bedding are motel-average. There is a view of the mountain and ski lift, but I wouldn't describe the view as being terrific; you see a lot of nearby buildings in the foreground. The grounds around the motel are well-maintained. We enjoyed our stay, but for $149 it seemed a bit overpriced. I wouldn't choose this for an actual honeymoon.

We traveled with a family group.

Pros: Nice scenery, park area with swings for chilren to play in. Very nice pavilion and grilling area. Location was nice, easy walk to anything you would want to do in town.

Cons: Definitely not the "cabin" I was expecting, but was a suite of rooms. Very run down. Rooms did not have any kind of ceiling fan, etc. for movement of air, so they became very stuffy. Pulled couch out from wall to look for something, found cereal, a card from a game we did not bring, and dust. Towels were replaced daily, but bathrooms not cleaned. Found fishing bobber between mattress and headboard of one of the beds. Called front office for more towels/pillow, response was exasperated sigh and were told we could come get them when she had time to pull them. The rooms are very dark, a lamp would have been nice.

A lot of it looks pieced together, with a "good enough" attitude. For what they charge, it's not good enough.

I'd recommend it to a friend if they understood what they were getting.

This lodge is a big property that sits right at the base of the Red River Ski Area. It is nice because everything is so spread out you do not feel cramped or anything. We really liked our cabin - it was close to the lobby, the hot tubs and the campfire so we did not have far to walk to anything. Restaurants were also close by but I guess the biggest convenience was being just across from the big chairlift. They had a kiosk there so you could purchase your lift tickets and not have to go to the Chalet area (it looked pretty congested) so we were glad to just get on the main chairlift and hit the slopes as fast as possibe. Being this close to our cabin also made it easy to come back for lunch or to just take a break from skiing and relax a little before heading back out. The lodge also had two large hot tubs which were great after a full day of skiing. (Like other reviews have mentioned they do limit your use to 30 minutes but you do have it to yourselves for that time so that worked out OK. They were also very clean and kept that way throughout the evening so a very big plus) The firepit was fun for the kids as was the large park area for snowball fights and building snowmen and we all absolutely loved the Torchlight parade and fireworks! Will recommend Red River, the Alpine and the RRSA to our friends and family and will all be back next Spring Break!

We cannot say enough for the location, staff (service) and rooms being comfortable for our family. We travel extensively and the Alpine Lodge was a terrific home base during this year's Spring Break. Compared to other ski towns/areas Red River has to be the most economical we have come across with phenomenal skiing. We have actually been there during the summer and have had the same terrific experience. We will continue to stay at the Alpine and would highly recommend the hotel. What a hidden gem in a great little town.
