“Location can't be beat and great for families.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

This place overall was great. We enjoyed our stay. Our bedroom connected walls with the skating rink so we hear music and kids slamming into the wall until about 9:30pm. We went into the playhouse but most of the video games were broken. The grill food was good too. It was a nice place to unwind with a drink and some food. The location cant be beat. You walk across a parking lot and ur at the base and ready to get on the lift. We slept 7 comfortably and never ran out of hot water. I would stay here again.

My family stayed in room no. 4 and then room no. 5 in the same visit. The only good thing about this place is its location next to the ski slopes. Rooms were not very clean. The carpet was threadbare and gross, and the floors squeaked. Walls were very thin, While in no. 4 we could hear every word of a domestic dispute in no. 5. While in no. 5 we could hear every guest going up and down the stairs. In no. 5 the cold water in the shower/bath did not work and was not fixed during our stay - the hot water was scalding. The bathroom ventilation fan did not work - the response from the on site maintenance man (who tried to be very helpful) was "oh, the fans don't work in 4 or 5 units." The beds were awful. The living room couch in no. 5 was worn and broken. A nail in the couch poked through the covering and tore my jeans. When the maintenance man was told about this he replied "I will hammer it down." We had to leave early for a family emergency, but it was not hard to leave so we could actually get a good night's sleep in a real hotel. When I think of a ski lodge I think "hot tub." The on site hot tub was broken and locked up during our entire stay.

Room Tip: We had friends staying in the La Hacienda suite which seemed ok. My best room advice is to stay som...

We stayed in the La Hacienda - We were a little iffy about our choice due to some reviews.. but after talking to the owners- decided to keep it! We could not be more thrilled with how it turned out. We had 3 couples, and had PLENTY of room, It was VERY clean and not to mention walking distance to the yellow chair ( The first few days there was so much snow it was literally a ski in ski out- right to the door!) The kitchen area was nice, had all the cooking utensils we needed and the grocery store was very close! We enjoyed it so much and will definitely be back!
They also let us check in earlier because we had arrived ahead of schedule!
The resturant was wonderful - if you are there on their steak night you must have it. it was the best steak i have ever had! Dont forget to mention that you are guest to get your 10% off at the resturant.

The only bad thing we have to say about this location is the hot tub was out of service :(

Everything about this place was great. The rooms were nice, the service was great. The cafe had really good food and wasn't expensive. And, since I went there to go skiing, the best part was, I would finish skiing and ski to the bottom of the hill and it's right there. I don't have to walk a long way.
I can't wait until next year.

Location is great, but the unit was DISCUSTING (unit 2)! The shower curtain was more mold than plastic and had holes all over it, there were hairS (yes, multiple) in the bed sheets, the only seating for a "sleeps 6 unit" was a couch that had a broken leg, which also meant the pull out bed that was supposed to sleep 2 of our kids was at a severe angle (not to mention the amount of food debris and grossness on the mattress), the walls near the kitchenette were sticky and moldy with food debris as were the cabinets (inside and out!), and dust so thick you couldn't tell the color of the wood on the chair rails or base boards. Needless to say, we didn't stay here. The owner offered to replace the shower curtain and prop up the broken couch. He felt the hairs in the bed were perfectly normal and repeatedly stated that they'd been washed and dried and gone over with a lint brush so there the hairs were at least sterile (seriously?!?!). He also felt the amount of dust and food debris on the walls and on/in the cabinets were "cleaner than many other places in Red River". My family has been going to red river for greater that 5 years and my husband's family on and off for greater than 20 years - and we've never had any condo/room even a fraction as bad as this one.
We ended up at the Auslander next door, while more expensive it was well worth it to avoid Black Mountain Lodge and whatever germs/allergies/dirt/etc. comes with it! Other places we've enjoyed at Copper King Lodge and Riverside Lodge.
Oh, and the owner refused to refund our $ and stated that if they could re-rent it I would get 80% back. I guess i'll have to see what my credit card company and lawyer have to say about all of this...

I found this place to be the best yet, for the price in Red River. The rooms are a little outdated but I have not found a place in Red River where this is not true. Yeah it got a little rowdy most nights but the cops were never there and by 11 I would say it was fairly quiet. Why people who want silence stay in hotels/resorts and not cabins is beyond me. The owners were almost always on site and very helpful and polite. The best part is the location and the fact that a restaurant is on site with great food and cold beer. I also thought the beds were adequate.

The suite is not what was expected by looking at the website. Not renovated and ond bedding. Very rundown. Bare unfinished floors in the living room and bathroom. Carpet has been pulled up and tack strips have been left behind. The room has three doors that you can’t secure. Perfect place for a Frat party, not the family.

Pros:
Close to the ski lifts
Very large
Great Heater

Cons:
Cant secure room
Dirty
Broken furniture
Electrical wiring issues

Room Tip: Ask for pictures of the room prior to making reservations.
