This is such a lovely place. Our lunch was ups and downs ... great entrees but no syllable of apology for burnt appetizers, a long wait, or colder than room temperature coffee.
Our server Cindi seemed to be having a very inattentive day. We told her the signature wonton appetizers were burnt, showed her the carbonized wrappers, and she wasnt listening. Instead of acknowledging things werent right, she said we should have two orders next time ... We went to try new menu items we'd read about in the newspaper. The salmon crepes were fabulous/memorable. I'm glad I added spinach and bacon. Hubby's salmon was very rare; just the way he likes it. Unfortunately, the chipotle-mango sauce was KETCHUP with a chunk of mango and NO chipotle heat or taste at all. If the salmon hadnt been fabulous, salmon on a bed of ketchup would have been a big disappointment. His side, borracha beans, were a famine-sized portion, less than 1/4 cup. Like there's a pinto bean shortage in New Mexico??? My red chile sea salt fries were very, very ordinary room-temp battered fries - with No red chile at all. The coconut flan was great, as usual. The long wait for entrees and dessert made us realize we hadnt got chips and salsa like all the other tables. Hubby's coffee was cold/not-even-room-temperature and we asked Cyndi to take it back. She did, without a word, good, bad, or otherwise. That made us think of another uneven meal we had recently elsewhere and we ended up raving to the GM about the server because she apologized for things not being right and offered us even better substitutions. Peppers is a lovely place, some good food. We'll go back someday when we can overlook the service. Too bad there's isnt good management to get everything working in a better direction.
