“Cute place with very nice owners”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2009

We stayed here for one night on a sightseeing trip to historic Lincoln. The hotel closes for the winter and we were there on the last night before closing, and we were the only guests (the inn has five rooms). The owners, Victor and Kathy, are very friendly and made us feel welcome. They are dog friendly, and their little dog got along great with our pooch. The rooms are small--and the bathrooms are tiny--but everything is clean and well kept. The rooms have fireplaces, although we didn't use ours. There is no TV in the room, but there is one in the lounge that you can use. The dining room had officially closed for dinner after Thanksgiving, but the owners had leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner so we got a huge plate of food for $10 each. This was very helpful as there were no other restaurants open (Lincoln is a tiny town with only about 50 residents) and we would have had to drive to another town to eat. Our room rate did include a full breakfast, but because of a storm coming in we left early the next morning--although not without two breakfast burritos for the road. I would definitely stay here again. Be aware that there is no cell service in Lincoln and the rooms don't have phones. But there is Wi-Fi if you want to check e-mail on your laptop.

We have been guests at the Wortley Hotel in Lincoln, NM on many occasions in the last 10 years . . . . we are history buffs, impressed with the town and nearby sites , but particularly the feel of staying in this wonderful hotel . . . . we never tire of the beauty and quiet surroundings! The hotel itself has experienced a couple changes in ownership - the current innkeepers, Cathy and vic Garrison, have in the past 3 years created a place away from home that feels like home . . . you receive a hearty welcome, a wonderfully relaxing room (especially when burning a log in the kiva fireplace), nice grounds, and FOOD to knock your socks off. The Dining Room is friendly with drop-in neighbors, as well as other guests, and a menu we loved (plus beer and wine). There is NO DOWNSIDE to visiting Historic Lincoln and a pleasurable stay at the Wortley Hotel. Many thanks again Cathy and Vic!

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful long weekend with a clean room, great breakfasts, and all of the beautiful fall colors the mountains could offer. One of the most incredible attributes of the Wortley is the beautiful mornings and evening in the rocking chairs on the porch. Simple mountain living - the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle. The Migas are great for breakfast!

Our stay at the Wortley Hotel in Lincoln, NM was exactly what we had hoped for - a quiet getaway in cool, beautiful surroundings with friendly local people and gourmet food. Memorable experiences included morning coffee in a rocking chair on the front porch, petting the resident dog, Rascal, and having dinner in a porched area watching hummingbirds at the window. The main street of Lincoln is heavy with memories of the 1880's.

We didn't stay at the hotel, however we had lunch in the dining room. The lunch we had was neither bad nor spectacular. We noticed that the others who were eating there seemed to be locals as they knew the staff. It was about the only place in town to eat so it wasn't as if we had a choice. The waitress was friendly and knowledgable about the town of Lincoln and its history.

When we went to check in, there was not a sole around. We sat on the front porch for an hour and finally someone showed up. When we got to our "room" if you want to call it that, the floor was covered with a quarter inch or dust and grit. Then we discovered there was no hot water. That was it for having a shower. Then the next morning I woke up with bites all over me. When we returned home, I went to the doctor and guess what? They were BED BUGS! What ever you do, don't spend the night at this crap hole!

I needed to do business with David Hall and Alic Seely Warder so my friend and I traveled from Cuba, NM for a nice get-a-way and road trip to a part of the state neither of us were familiar with.

Alice had recommended the Wortley Hotel but we did not make prior reservations because we wanted to leave our options open. Before we went on to Hondo to see Alice we passed through the little town of Lincoln (very cute). We passed the Wortley and immediately liked the look of it so we stopped to see if rooms were available. We were lucky enough to get the last two rooms as each only had one bed and we do not like to share. The rooms were decorated simply in a perfect "old westy" kind of a way. Each had an en-suite bath even though mine was miniscule it was clean and worked fine. The room was very clean the bed comfortable enough and the ceiling fan was a God send as it was hot and the window didn't open. Probably my only real complaint.

David and Alice took us to dinner at the Wortley restaurant which was very good. Everyone liked their entres and each of us had a dessert... authentic Florida Key Lime Pie!

I would definitely recommend the Wortley.
