“White Sands Missile Range (Not Sand Dunes)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

The WSMR (White Sands Missile Range) does not have sand dunes close to it and is not open to the public. You need to travel another 30 or 40 miles down NM Highway 70 to the White Sands National Monument to enjoy the dunes. Most civilians do not get a chance to see any part of the missile range, part of which is a small city within itself (movie theater, commissary (grocery store) exchange (department store) grade school, college, bowling alley, auto repair shop and limited eating establishments) and most of which is vast land (thousands of miles) used to test various weapons. Don't confuse the Missile Range with the National Sand Dunes.

“WARM NICE FEELING ?? SNOW???”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Loved seeing and being able to stop often at the different sand dunes. The visitors center sells round sleds with wax which makes this visit a wonderland for kids. My grandson and my service dog loved playing and sliding over the dunes. I had just as much fun watching the two of them slide and run as I would have had playing myself and I did not have to climb back up the hills.
If you are in the area---be sure to stop and enjoy a wonder of nature.

“For me it was a sad old museum”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We spend a lot of money on the military, and a lot of it is well spent. For some reason the Missile Range's Museum (the only place where the public is allowed) really need updating and maintenance.

“Unique part of US history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

A tour of White Sands Missile Range is a must for history and science buffs a like. The site of rockets and missile from the critical role the US has played in the development of this technology. All surrounded by typical US military base of a historic area, overlooking one of the most important missile test ranges in the world. It's still in use. If you are lucky, you may even experience a sonic boom or the sounds of testing in progress.
