“Tasty lunch, attentive service, pleasant ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We stopped here for lunch recently. We passed the wine tasting bar and headed for the dining room which was very pleasant with large windows and doors providing a nice scene out to their gardens. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant. We ordered a tuna melt and house salad which we shared. The tuna melt was delicious and quite creative. It was freshly grilled tuna, cooked medium rare, on a piece of Texas toast, and topped with chili peppers and cheese. Accompanying it was sliced avocado and some fresh fruit salad. The house salad was fresh and full of a variety of salad veggies, and served with a choice of dressings. Much to our surprise, the kitchen split our orders so we could share them without our having to ask. We tasted their special wine - peach - and decided to pass...way to sweet to have with a meal, though perhaps interesting as an after meal drink. As an added touch, they gave us to-go cups of ice tea when we left...a nice gesture on a very hot day.

“Wonderful experience with our first wine tasting experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Although my husband and I both love wine, we had never been to a wine tasting. On the recommendation of our B & B host we went to the St. Claire winery for lunch and also did a little wine tasting as well. The restaurant we went to was the one in Mesilla. Our waiter (Rolando--I hope I got his name right!) was excellent and explained how the wine tasting worked, gave us many samples and was attentive during the entire meal. The food was delicious and portions were generous. Every question we had about the various wines was answered professionally and we learned so much. The restaurant is very nice inside and you can also choose to sit outside. We will go back every time we are in Mesilla!

“Great prime rib!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

This was our first time at the new location, though I had eaten at the old location twice in the past several years. The new building is beautiful, much more spacious, and has a nice view off the patio. We were seated promptly for a Saturday night and no reservations. The parking lot was full and we were worried about waiting, but there was plenty of room in the dining room as most diners were on the patio in spite of the 100 degree weather. Our server was quick, efficient, and friendly and gave us a great recommendation. We both ordered the prime rib, which was thick-cut, done perfectly medium rare as ordered, and deliciously seasoned. The accompaniments of red-skinned mashed potatoes and sauteed mixed veggies (broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, and green beans) were equally perfect -- done, but not soggy, and everything was piping hot. The portions were VERY generous and we both ended up leaving a bit on our plates, try as we might to finish! This was accompanied by their in-house DH Lescombes Cabernet, which was lush with notes of cherry and chocolate. Total bill for one house salad, two prime rib dinners, bottle of red wine, and tip was $103.90, which was a bargain for what we had! The front desk staff was very helpful with suggestions and tastings for purchasing six assorted red wines on our way out.

“A Reliable Choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

The menu is good generally. For dinner, the sea bass provencal is noticeably reliable. The wine-braised short ribs are pretty good too. There are great salads on the menu. The sandwich menu is pretty good, too. The D.H. Lescomb line of wines can be quite good. Disregard the offer to sample the usually sweet wine featured as an enticement when you sit down at your table. Flights of wine are on the menu, which can be worthwhile for tasting.

“Some good wines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We stop by for their wine tasting and enjoyed many of the wines that they make as well as some of the specialty items such as Mimosa made with real mango was outstanding with a little of their champagne added to it. Of course Jaron, shared with us some of their best wines and of course we had to buy some. We had stopped by St. Clair in Albuquerque for lunch and it was outstanding but in Mesilla we only enjoyed their wine.
