“Under renovation; don't leave items in back of truck!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

I made a reservation using bringfido.com based on the reviews. I was traveling with two large dogs and had planned to reserve a room somewhere else, but later learned that the other hotel did not allow more than one dog per room. So, Econo Lodge was our choice based on the size and number of pets traveling with us.

The price was reasonable, and the extra pet-fee was also reasonable. I was initially concerned when I pulled up at 10pm to find construction scaffolding on the front of the building - I initially thought the hotel might have been closed for renovations! But, when I finally pulled closer, I could see a sign that said "Open during renovation". Unfortunately, the renovation took up any parking that might have been available in the front of the building, so we had to park in the rear of the building. We were worried about the security of our belongings so we brought all valuables inside with us. (This turned out to be a good thing because the next morning, another guest complained to the front desk that a tool box had been stolen out of the back of his pick up truck during the night!)

While the bed was clean and comfortable, the room itself was dated and dingy. The bathroom was dark and seriously in need of updating. However, the hotel met our needs for one night on the road. I likely would not book here again, but would instead look for somewhere else. But, in a pinch, as long as you don't have high expectations, this hotel will do.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused by our renovations. We are hoping to have these completed by the end of the month. I have looked into the issue with the guest whose items were supposedly stolen. The items were recovered in his co-workers room. Thank you for staying with us and we hope you will give us another chance to serve you once our renovation is complete. We look forward to receiving you on your future travels through Gallup!

This is a low cost hotel. As a result, you get a lower quality experience. However, there are good things to say about the Econo Lodge in Gallup.

First, the front desk clerk was friendly and efficient. I was checked in with a second floor room, and when I requested first floor, she changed it immediately and without any grief.

The room was clean and adequate. TV, fridge, and heater all worked fine. I did need to walk down to get an extra towel and the front desk girl again helped me out immediately.

The sheets were clean, and the bed was fairly firm which I prefer.

There was a new LCD TV in the room as well. It also looks like the carpet is fairly new, so I'm guessing I have one of the newly renovated rooms (they're remodeling right now.). All lower class furnishings and fixtures like you'd expect. Nothing was broken.

Breakfast was the usual hot waffle, two kinds of cold cereal, toast, mini muffins, coffee, apple juice or OJ. Pretty horrible, but it's what you get at this price point.

Bottom line for me was that it was a cheap place to lay my head for a night on I-40. Would I stay here again? Probably not. I'd try out a Comfort Suites or something a notch above and pay the extra $20.

Thanks for the inexpensive stay Econo Lodge Gallup!

One night here passing through on I-40. The front office staff both at check-in and in the morning were quite friendly and helpful.
Our room had a refrigerator, microwave and older TV, all in fine working order.
Breakfast was served at 6am and included fresh coffee, bulk orange and apple juice, muffins and toast, fresh cooked waffles, and a couple of cold cereals including a raisin bran one, all with many condiments.
The motel has all indoor corridors with key card controls. It is now under reconstruction, but all was very quiet at night, except for a few trains, as expected, along this historic Route 66 and Burlington Northern corridor.
Yes, we recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Since the office and kitchen and dining room are indoors on the first floor, it is more quiet on the...

We stayed two nights here and found it to be very nice. The large room was clean and in good condition. The free Wi-Fi worked very well, however, it is unsecured. The included breakfast was more than adequate: Coffee, juice, waffles, toast, cereal, etc. The staff that we interacted with were all quite friendly and helpful. This was a thoroughly satisfactory experience. No complaints.

According to the reviews on this place, I really did not want to stay here. All the reviews are wrong. This place was very clean and the staff are very nice and helpful. Extremely quiet. Great for the price that you pay. The beds are really comfy. Wi-fi worked great. I have no idea why people are complaining about it. The only complaint that I have is there aren't enough electrical outlets in the room to charge all your devices when you are traveling. Overall great place to stay.

You cant expect much for the price, but we were pleasantly surprised.
It had the basics for a restful stop enroute to Arizona.
Comfortable bed, roomy, basic breakfast included, quiet location.
Staff very helpful...so overall, good value for money.
