“Scrambled tofu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Took my sister and brother-in-law here for breakfast and they enjoyed the food. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the scrambled tofu and it was quite good.

“La Cocina highly recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We eat at La Cocina about once a month. The space is made up of several rooms for a more congenial feel, but easily visible from each other. It is always clean, well lit, and pleasant. SErvice is excellent. The quality of the food is good but sometimes lack the authentic NM zing. Their house Margarita, made with wine, is excellent.

“Good, dependable New Mexican cuisine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

This was a good, very reasonably priced place for New Mexican food. The portions were generous, and the quality of the food was above average.

“average northern new mexican food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We ate lunch at La Cocina recently and found the restaurant to be very clean, good service and fairly priced. The food is good, just not exceptional. We have lived in NM for over twenty years and do like our chilis, the salsa was watery and had little flavor, more like tomato juice. The tacos reminded me of shredded pot roast, flavorful as pot roast, but lacking a new mexican hint. My guest had the flautes which were over deep fried and rather greasy. Again, it is ok, but there are better restaurants in Espanola.

“Authentic and Traditional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

When driving in New Mexico from Taos to Santa Fe, we look forward to stopping in Espanola for lunch or dinner at La Cocina. My wife and I have enjoyed authentic New Mexican food at this restaurant since the days it was located in a smaller building away from the busy streets. Now in its attractive new and larger building, La Cocina offers the same outstanding food and friendly service. We arrived a little before noon on a Friday and were seated right away. My wife had the Christmas chile (½ red & ½ green) chicken enchilada plate with egg on top. I had the green chile lamb enchilada plate with an egg. A basket of warm sopapillas followed soon after our main plates arrived. I had been thinking about this lunch all morning, and it was everything I anticipated. The meat, chile, beans and sopapillas were just as good as in previous years. We appreciated the tables spaced far enough apart to have conversations.
