We liked the reviews and decided to try out Orlando's. We ate outside on the patio. The noise from the highway few feet away was noticeable, but not too bad. If that sort of thing bothers you, perhaps you should sit inside. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was simple and casual. This is definitely not a place you need to dress up for. The food was also very good. Not the best in Taos, but if they opened one in my neighborhood, it would be one of my favorite places (and I live in Houston which is full of great Mexican and Tex-Mex food). I felt like the prices were inexpensive for the quality of the food. We were a bit disappointed with the tamales. When they were served, I noticed how plump they were, but alas, while there was enough meat for an average tamale and it was quite good, it was surrounded by a sea of masa. After my wife finished her tamale dinner, there was a pile of masa left on her plate. I enjoyed the posole and thought the chili relleno was nice.
All in all, a very good Mexican food place where you can get a good meal for a fair price. Family friendly and casual. I may not come back on this trip, but will keep in on my list of places to eat in Taos.
