OK, so you are not going to find any five-star luxury hotels in Eagle Nest, NM, or even three stars, for that matter. Although it's near three ski resorts (Angelfire, Taos & Red River), it's not a resort area itself. Eagle Nest is an out-of-the-way, laid back great place to go for some R&R. I'm rating this independently-owned motel for what I feel was a great deal. This place is clean, easy to deal with, has great views, more towels than I could have ever used, and is very affordable. Rooms are large, beds are comfortable, there were plenty of extra pillows & towels, everything worked, they had in-room fridge & microwave, everything you need for a basic stay. Best of all, they are the last thing on the east side of town, so you have a completely unobstructed view of the sunrise over the mountains from your front porch in the mornings. If you need room service, 1000 count sheets, and fancy decor, this is not your place. There are no black-out curtains (vertical blinds only), the beds are not tall, there are no pillow-top mattresses. However, if you want a clean, decent place to stay for a VERY reasonable rate, go here.
