i'm stuck in Deming due to car trouble. it's an adorable little town with incredibly nice people. last night i stayed at the Butterfield Stage Motel. it was the first place i pulled up to. i don't need anything fancy, just a decent, safe, acceptably clean place to stay. it was only $36 with tax. as soon as i entered the room, i shuddered. and i never shudder. the curtains would not close completely and were falling off of the rods, couldn't lock the windows, one window had broken blinds which fell off when i tried to adjust them. place looked grimier than i could stomach. the remote to the tv did not work. there were empty cans of beer and half bottles of whiskey in the small fridge. i felt entirely unsafe. since i'd already paid and i was in a bit of a bind, i stayed the night. slept in my clothes over the sheets. woke up the next morning and walked directly to the Deming Motel, just 2 blocks away. the owner was so incredibly kind and accommodating and i paid $43 for one night. THIS PLACE IS LIKE A FREAKING KINGS PALACE COMPARED TO WHERE I STAYED LAST NIGHT. i feel like i can eat off of the floors. 5 STARS TO DEMING HOTEL!

Room Tip: go 2 blocks down the street to the DEMING MOTEL. spend the extra 7 dollars. staying at the Butterfie...

I was expecting better after seeing many good reviews. Instead this room is bottom of the barrel. Hey at least the internet works so I can write this review.

It's one thing to be 70's style, it's another if everything is from the 70's. I mean furniture, carpet, etc. Big room, but most of the lights don't work. The tv works, doesn't get that many channels though, maybe 10 tops. There was a hunk of bailing wire in the carpet. The bed had hairs on the pillow. I can go on and on, but really this place is a dump.

The people running it were nice enough, but if they were truly nice they would have cleaned this room in the last 10 years before renting it.

Ok the wife insists I do go on. No shampoo. Mold in the tub not just a little, a lot. Tub drained slow. Lights on the vanity didn't work and the cover was busted. Literally everything is dirty. Curtain all screwed up. We had to wedge something on it to keep it from blowing open when the air conditioner was on. How classy is this place? The bedside table is chained to the wall. Well actually the chain is broke, but it's so grim no one has stolen it.
Remember that old ugly flower upholstered chair your aunt Bessie Mae used to set in and watch Hee Haw in 1977? Man was she ever proud of that thing. Well after she died that chair got sold in a yard sale to a guy that changed motor oil for a living and tended to get a lot of it on himself. He would go home, worn out from a hard day at work, so tired he wouldn't even change out of his oil and grime encrusted clothes. Instead he would just plop down in that chair. Eventually though, the chair got too be too old and nasty even for that dude, so he threw it out on the side of the road. Apparently this hotel found it and thought it would perfectly match their decor, which it does.
There is that enough?
On the plus side, no bugs or anything. It's perhaps a bit too nasty for them.

Just checked into this establishment and am already impressed. The room is large, plenty of TV channels and high speed wireless is really high speed. This is a very low budget lodging, old motel but friendly and close enough to walk to restaurants.
Last night I stayed at a Super 8 for twice the price and was unable to use the computer due to their slow wireless speeds. I'll get plenty of work done tonight though. My room was less than $35 including taxes so again I am quite pleased. The only down side is that the TV is hard to view from the bed as it is small.
