It was necessary for me to stay in Columbus, New Mexico (where?) on business recently for about a week. (Columbus in noted for the dubious distinction of being the only place where the US was invaded by a foreign assault prior to 9-11. Pancho Villa invaded in 1916.)
The only place to stay in town is Martha's Place--probably because this fine Bed N Breakfast ran the competition out of business.
The facility has been renovated with all up-to-date fixtures. It is tastefully and artfully decorated and spotlessly clean. Martha's husband, Javier--a real gentleman, and an interesting and informed conversationalist--has created outdoor friezes with old west themes. He has planted and maintains flower gardens and a small grassy lawn in front and in the rear coutyard.
All in all, a delightful place to stay. I look forward to going back!
