Owner description: The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one of the best sunken ship wrecks in the world! If you come to Bali, you absolutely have to dive there The liberty ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo then was beached near Tulamben. In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water. The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.

Heaps of fun . Multi level dive. Can go deep and look up at the wreck from 30m plus and work your way all over and through its strewn mess ! Each dive you can see more parts ! Saw a 1.5m barracuda hiding under wreck ledge !

“Paradise lost?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Litter seems to be a problem in the public beach areas of Bali, and Tulamben unfortunately appears to have the same unfortunate problem. The reef is being rehabilitated and coral and fish are responding on the Coral Garden dive the length of the beach which is +- 10 meters deep and includes passing the wreck, however the beach are needs a good clean up.

“Awesome dive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

An easily accessible wreck dive close to shore. Inhabited by a large number/ variety of fish and coral. Large parrot fish sleep in the wreck and are a high light of an early morning dive.

“a good easy dive from the shore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

I did 2 dive on the wreck and enjoy playing in the ;idle of it's rest. I really like the fact to go diving anytime I want. I chooses to dive at 8am before all the divers arrived from all over Bali. They arrive around 10am. My second dive was at 12, when the other divers go out and before they go again. So you understand, there are a lot of divers around. The life on the week is OK, but nothing great if you have been diving in nice place around the world or in Mamado or komodo for Indonesia. The visibility is poor in decembre, don't expect more than 10 to 15m, so you only see part of the wreck. byway, it is the best dive site around.
