Arrived home yesterday, 26 Nov, 2012 after spending 7 days at the Sun Island Villas, Seminyak. The staff were wonderful and could not have been more pleasant or helpful, from the gardeners to the front office. The facilities are spotless. The location is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle however upon walking past the front gate the serenity washes over you.
The private plunge pool was surprisingly refreshing given the air temperature, the gardens are beautiful and the spa excellent (all be it a cheaper services can be found within walking distance - still only $20 AUD for hour massage). Happy hour is 3pm to 7pm, two for one cocktails at $3 - $4.
The food was lovely, although the experience of eating at a variety of restaurants more enjoyable. Sun Island is walking distance to numerous great restaurants, a walk down Double Six Road to the beach is easy with a variety of foods to be enjoyed along the beach front. (The Italian restaurant on the corner of the left side street walking towards the beach on Double Six Road was superb).

If you can't be bothered or it is too hot to walk a taxi will take you anywhere local for under $3. (request the meter as the driver will be keen to negotiate a price as the meter is the cheaper way to go).

The bedroom window had double solid sliding door which blocked out light and the couple of local roosters, great for total relaxation.

Loved the week and would highly recommend a stay at Sun Island.

What a wonderful establishment! It is located right in the middle of the Seminyak shopping district, yet as soon as you walk through the gates you feel like you are miles away from all the hustle and bustle. We stayed in a private pool villa that couldn't be faulted. The fit out was modern and it was obvious a lot of thought had been put into layout and furnishings, as it certainly had our jaw dropping from the moment we walked in. All staff were extremely courteous and made us feel at home straight away. We became particularly fond of the security staff who always made such an effort to help us with directions and stopping the traffic so we could cross the road safely. During our stay we utilised the room service, which was of a good standard and price, however we found the breakfast to be a little disappointing. For an asian breakfast it was OK, but considering the resort caters for mainly western clientele, it was fairly average. However all in all, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is an absolute heavenly haven, in the heart of the action!

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sun island villas and spa end of October for 4 days as part of our 2 weeks trip from London to Hong Kong, we were upgraded to a 2 bed villa and our villa was number 10. the private pool was not massive but it was amazing to have a pool to yourself and it was lovely to have a nice cooling dip in the heat! there was free Wi-Fi and a nice selection of amenities as well, including shampoo and toothbrushes, basically everything you need! they even provide mosquito repellent creams and coils that could be burnt inside (or outside) the villa. the breakfast selection was also good with the usual continental stuff as well as some indonesian dishes. you can also order eggs however you like them! the range of juices was also very good! staff are very nice and always very helpful, they have been nothing but amazing throughout our stay! nothing was ever too much of a problem for them!
the villa is set back from the main road, very quiet when you are in the villa but also very close to the shops. there is a 24 hours supermarket Bintang only 5 minutes down the road! there are also lots of shops for clothes and shoes near by. the hotel also provides a free shuttle bus service twice a day to Kuta where you have even more shops, markets and can walk to the beach. however you have to make your own way back but its not very expensive at all, something around £2. we had dinner at the Poppies Restaurant in Kuta and it was really tasty, good quality and not expensive! if you go to the eat street Oberoi then don't go to Chandi unless you want to pay london prices! (see my other reviews for more details)
we had the 1 hour massage at the hotel spa, it was only 200,000 Rupiah (around £16) and it was amazing!
overall, lovely villa, great staff, great private pool and i don't think i ever want to stay in a normal hotel room again!!

My fiancé and I were treated like royalty from the time we arrived to the time we left. All the staff members lovely beaming smiles were warm and genuine. The villa itself was gorgeous. The food and drinks were delicious and affordable. The spa treatment just bliss. Overall it was worth every penny plus more! We were extremely pleased with the reception staff assisting with services from booking restaurants to booking trustworthy tour guides. Even the security staff at the front were always helpful and concerned for our safety. Had we stayed in just a normal hotel, we would've been treated like a number. I would totally recommend Sun island to everyone. Thank you very much to all the staff at sun island, we will see you the same time next year
