“Luxurious but practical at the same time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

We were given 1st class service the moment we touched down in Bali. We were ushered thru the immigration gates without the need to queue. Then, cold towels, bottled water and fruits were served in the 7 seater free airport transfer. We arrived at the Samaya approximately 20 mins later and were welcomed with delightful flower garlands. Our villa was at the far end of the compound so a buggy was necessary to take us and our luggage to the villa (there is a short cut through the café which we realised later on)

The villa itself was readied with the air condition switched on and 2 glasses of fancy orange juice prep nicely on the coffee table. The villa is huge for 2 persons. It has all the basic needs as well as the luxury bits that makes it stand out with the rest. As mentioned by many, renovation works are ongoing on the beach villa so our villa is situated on the opposite side of the main road (the samaya split their accommodations in 2 parts). Buggy services can be requested for those who wish to go to the restaurant, spa or even the reception area (though the latter would take barely 5 mins to walk to). As published in their website we were offered free 2 pieces of laundry each everyday (necessary in the blistering heat). We wine and dine in the villa for free! (well, a bottle of free sparkling wine and breakfast in villa is included). We enjoyed a dip in the pool especially after a long day out. We had breakfast in villa one day and another at breeze restaurant. Do take note that the breakfast selection at the breeze is more extensive and we ate like kings and queens. Breakfast is served all day so dine late morning and there won’t be a need to have lunch at all. Then came tea time. Drinks selection is wide (they tried doing an ice blended coffee for my partner which I would give thumbs up for 1st try) though the cakes and pastries is forgettable. The view however is breathtaking and the fact that the area is private, we did not need to worry about random sellers coming right up to your face. Dinner was good. We had a table right at the edge of the compound (within a metre from the beach) and were able to catch the sunset. Unfortunately, one of the spot lights fused and flying bugs were attacking our table since the little candle on the table attracted them. We were quickly moved to another area and service staffs were profusely apologizing to us which we accept since it is not their fault that the lights decide to give in. Food was amazing. My partner had a full Indonesian cuisine and the taste was true to its origin. As for myself, I had the green tea risotto with scallops (appetizer – forgotten) and I love it a lot. Definitely a must go for food lovers. Due to the low season, I ask for an extension on the last day since our flight was at 9pm. Instead of giving us the usual 2pm-3pm like most hotel do, we were allowed to stay in our villa till 7pm! The Samaya also provides free shuttle van to Kuta and nearby areas though take note that the place they stop is about a 15 mins walk to Kuta. My only disappointment was that we didn’t spend enough in the villa (Which villa provides 2 shower heads??) We did a one day tour with a brilliant tour guide named Putu (pm me for more details). The Samaya is definitely a luxury place but with practicality.

Room Tip: all the villas are the same as ongoing works are being done to their beach villas

Everything that already has been reported on tripadvisor is right. We stayed eight nights in Seminyak and two nights in Ubud. Everything was just perfect. Many thanks to the staff: We never have got such a warm and welcome feeling before as the staff has shown us in the two Samaya resorts, just lovely! We definitely will come back, as soon as possible. It was really one of our best hotel stays we had in our life! Thank you again

After travelling round Bali for ten days and being constantly impressed by the restaurants and hotels, our final destination had a lot to live up to, and didn't disappoint!!!

The villa was impeccable with it's large private pool, jacuzzi, double shower etc, but the service was the real star...... All of our nights out and transfers were handled by our butler who couldn't do enough - he even got us some ingredients from the hotel kitchen that we had forgotten to buy from the market in Ubud!

The restaurant here is also amazing - cocktails and wagyu beef all overlooking the sunset at the beach, some of our honeymoon photos look like professional brochure shots due the beautiful surroundings.

The most expensive destination on our honeymoon was worth every penny.

My wife and I stayed at the Samaya for 10 nights mid may and i feel compelled to write a quick review as simply put the hotel & staff could do no wrong.

There are plenty of positive reviews for the samaya on trip advisor and on this basis we booked our 10 night honeymoon stay..I am so pleased we did,

Saminyak is a funny place caught inbetween being part of bali culture and attracting allot of western tourists, the upshot is you have some superb places to eat, drink and enjoy the sunsets from and a relaticly small high street with wonky pavements and people trying to entice you into their shops/bars/eateries.

The samaya are in the process of upgrading the garden villa's which are by the sea and as such all the guest are being up graded to pool villas (i think) the pool villas are on the other side of the road to the breeze and beach but dont let this put you off. the villa's are great, we just didnt want leave... lovelly pool, stocked mini bar, jacuzzi, double shower, sofa's, free wifi, loan ipod loaded with chillout/ general music and BOSE sound system, 42inch TV, great aircon, bedroom doors which open out to the pool, que many rock star moment of running from bed to the pool first thing in the morning.

The local drivers the hotel provide happily take you around the local areas, they were an absolute blessing and so helpfull..i think some nights they picked us up from one eatery and dropped us at one of the many beach bars...no problems at all...this service was real touch and what sets the samaya above the rest of the hotels... big thumbs up.

lastly, many thanks to Ray and his merry team at the samaya, the staff really are a credit to the place...it was a bit like 'cheers bar' where evryone knows your name, always smiling always happy to help.

now if i can only get my team at work to welcome me in the morning with good morning Mr Mark and bring me over a breakfast burrito i will be happy.

ps - had a spa afternoon and opted for the 4 hand massage.... it was super... enjoy!

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Samaya, everything truly was perfect. We have travelled extensively & this is by far the best place that we have stayed, we really could not fault a thing. The food, service, spa, villa & location are the best. I'm already trying to book our next visit.

Room Tip: If you like sun all day room 309 was perfect!

My husband, 11 month old and I stayed 2 nights at samaya ubud followed by 4 nights at samaya seminyak and we cannot fault either property. The cost was more than we had planned to spend on this trip but we decided to spoil ourselves and boy am I glad we did.

The location is perfect.. walking distance to eat street, mid point between ku de ta and potato head on the beach however should you want to venture further a driver is more than happy to take you anywhere within the local area and will pick you up when you call.

Everything you read here is true. The staff bend over backwards to make sure you are looked after. The breakfast at Breeze is amazing.. you can order as much as you like (I am afraid to get on the scales now) and the setting by the beach is stunning! We looked forward to afternoon tea every day which we also had at Breeze but can be served in your villa, most days we didn't eat lunch as you can have breakfast whenever you like.

The renovations didn't impact on our enjoyment at all.. you are still able to use all the facilities and the noise is well away from the royal courtyard villas (a short walk / buggy ride across the road)

Ray the GM was at breakfast each day and made sure everyone was happy, he helped us out with a late check out which was a godsend for our baby who needed to have sleeps throughout the day.

The royal courtyard villas are huge and the pool is a great size. Rooms are cleaned twice daily and are spotless. The decor is slightly dated but with all the other perks of staying there who cares....

We ate at Breeze for dinner once and it was amazing. We can't wait to stay in one of the new villas once the renovations are complete!

This was our first time visiting Bali and the amazing staff at the Samaya made it a truly memorable experience. We stayed 2 nights at the Samaya Ubud and 3 nights at the Samaya Bali. The thing that made the Samaya stand out from every other resorts I've been to, is the impeccable service of their staff. The warmth of their hospitality extended from every member of their staff including the chauffeurs who transported us around Bali, to the waiters at their restaurants, and especially their butlers.

We stayed in a 1BR Royal Courtyard Villa while in Seminyak and the villa was very impressive. We did encounter an issue with the lighting in the private pool, however it was quickly remedied as they had a crew come to dive underwater and fix the lights within 30 minutes just so we could go swimming that night. The breakfasts at the Breeze and Brasserie were a nice welcome, especially for my girlfriend who found most of the other food in Bali to be too salty. The spa treatment was also nice but might be a little lacking if you enjoy a very strong message. All in all, I'd definitely recommend the Samaya and look forward to staying at one of their new beachside villas once their renovations are completed.
