“Perfect Getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2009

The Elysian was a wonderful experience, due to the attentive staff, fantastic large modern villas close to the vicinity of the beach, cafes, restaurants, bars & boutique shops.
We loved coming home to our rooms after a long hot day in the sun or shopping, to the private plunge pool in our villas.

They provide you with free bottled water, replace beach towels readily, offer a wonderful breakfast by the main pool area & have spas onsite. I didn't have the opportunity to try their spa treatment. The only small negative is the loacaion is about a 5 min walk to the main street through a laneway. Which doesn't sound much, until you are in the 30 degree heat.

They apparently have free shuttle vans to the main area, however, we walked it ourselves, or jumped in a cheap ride back to our hotel if too exhausted. So no big issue...Ku De Ta is also close to our Hotel, which is great for cocktails by the water. Although gets very busy, so get in very early.

Found a great Japanese restaurant on one of shopping trips in Seminyak called Hana Restaurant. (in Jl Raya Seminyak) Very fresh, light and scrumptious Japanese food...which was great for the hot steamy days & not wanting a heavy meal. i certainly wasn't expecting to find such a quality Japanese restaurant in Bali!

A great cafe for good coffee, salads & paninis was 'The Tuckshop' & has a cute shop for clothing at the back also.

Amazing healer/massager in Legian/Seminyak named Yanto for those who want a holistic massage and scarily spot on with confirming my current health situation without me explaining it to him. He gives great advice on working towards a healthy mind, body, spirit. His email is irjanto@telkom.net

When we arrived in Depensar airport, we were approached by a driver who tried to rip us off to drive us Ubud trying to charge $40 US. Another driver approached us & offered a reasonable price, who ended up driving us for the rest of our trip to Ubud, then to Ulu Watu (Bingin), to Jimbaran for a seafood meal & waited for us to finish our meal to bring us back to our Lodge in Bingin, then to the Ulu Watu Temple followed by Kuta the same night for dinner & our final stop at the Elysian Villas in Seminyak.

His name was Wayan Aris & his number is [--]. Taxis were so cheap, so having our own driver was worth the money spent. Wayan laughs alot and can speak english relatively well.

Oh my god where do I start. This hotel is AMAZING> The location is awesome - next door to KuDaTa and around the crn from the beach. They had peddle bikes you could use to pop down for a quick swim. The rooms are 5star, and the pool in each villa just devine. There are only 27 villas so not too big. Price was better than anywhere else. BUT the best thing was the staff. They made the stay unforgettable. We travelled with our 16month old, mother in law and my husband and we all couldn't say enough kind words about how amazing they all were. Defiantly, defiantly going back and I'm super fussy!

We stayed at the Elysian for 7 nights prior to our wedding in Bali.

Location great, Staff very friendly, Breakfast enormous (no need for lunch!).

The villa was great and the pool larger than I initially expected. We stayed in villa 23, the sun hit the lounge chairs around 10.30am and stayed till around 1.00pm which was perfect, then the sun stayed on the pool until around 3pm....The rooms are spacious and well planned. The wear & tear is however starting to show, chipped and stained tiles and some decor becoming dated. The bathroom is OK, the design of shower/bath (is it really a bath - i dont think so) was a little disappointing.

The gym is not located within the Elysian grounds, however 50metres down the road at some other villa. It had most equipment - although very old and in need of replacement. Some days the electrcity didnt work at the gym which made for a pretty sweaty workout. I know most people of holidays don't care too much about gyms but this was the week prior to my wedding and was most important to me!

All taxi's & drivers knew exactly where the Elysian was so this made things very easy getting back to Hotel.

Fantastic restaurants nearby - Sarong, La Lucciola, Ku de ta, Chandi and SIP.

We got a pretty good deal on the Elysian with Flight Centre - better than what I was offered when I went direct to the Hotel.

All in all a great stay - the Elysian provided the haven from the craziness of the streets of Seminyak - would stay there again.

This is a great place for a honeymoon as the Pool Villas are all spacious and well decorated with a modern minimalist, Bali style. The place allows you to preset an ipod before you arrive to ensure that you will have all the music that you would like. The food is quite good for a small boutique hotel and the service staff was more than excellent as they usually go out of their way to help accommodate for all your needs and wants. All in all, I would recommend anyone who wanted a nice, quiet, secluded, and comfortable stay in Bali to choose the Elysian hotel.

We stayed at the Elysian 3 nights last september.

The hotel:
We loved the place. It never feels crowded. The staff is helpfull, smilling and friendly.
The breakfast is excellent, not buffet like everywhere else, but à la carte which is much better. We also tried the restaurant for dinner a couple of times and were not disapointed.

The villas:
They're perfect, just perfect! We loved the preloaded ipod, the moderne furniture, the flat TV with DVD player, the design of the bathroom and of course the private pool with sundeck. The pool's temperature was OK.
Unfortunatly we stayed in villa n°6 witch is by a road full of noisy motorbikes and wild dogs barking night and day.
The 2 meter high wall separating us from the road wouldn't cut the noise at all.
It seems to be the same problem with villa n°4-5-6-7. Try to get another villa if you can. They seem to all be 1 bedroom villa so if you reserved a 2 bedroom villa you shouldn't have that problem.
So the villa is surrounded by high walls to get complete privacy on the sundeck and pool. On the other hand you get no view at all and one can feel locked in.
I couldn't have stayed all day long in there.

The surroundings:
That's the major problem. Seminyak is a strange place full of wealthy expats and luxury resorts but with no proper roads!
Walking out there is uncomfortable and unsafe. There are no pavements and when they are, watch your step they have big holes. At nights these roads get completly dark and you 'd better take a flashlight with you.
You can always take a taxi: they're cheap, but they sometime forget to turn there taximeter on, or try to drive you to another place... The regular fare for a short distance drive is RP 15,000.
The Elysan has no direct access to the beach. You have a good 10 minutes walk under the sun and in the middle of traffic (remember: no pavement) on a narrow road (or I should say a track). Then you access the beach trough KuDeTa then bargain for a beachchair. We payed RP 50,000 for 2 beachchairs for the day, but I'm sure you can get them for less.

Overall:
Thought this hotel is really great I can't score it 5/5 because of it's surroundings.
I'd go back to The Elysian, except I'd never go back to Seminyak!

My husband and i Stayed At the Elysian for five nights in Jan 09. I have to say, we were impressed with the private pick up from the airport. The staff who picked us up was so friendly and offered us cold towels and water. Good start to the trip!
Once we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised especially as the small road that leads you to the hotel gave us a few doubts!
Our room was fantastic and the the facility's were and extra bonus! We had our own private pool but i have to say that the water was too cold to swim in. The water is the man pool is slightly warmer. So we spent more time there.
You could not fault the staff. They really made us feel welcome. So nice to have friendly faces!
I think Seminyak was the best place the stay. We did visit other places but this by far was the best for location. As we were there in the low season, the hotel was a bit quiet but we preferred that. We were walking distance to shops and restaurants which made each evening different.
I totally recommend this hotel - It's a great escape!

Stayed in elysian for 3 days in august and I have to admit that service was indeed very good. From the time they picked us up at the airport to the time we checked out we didn't have anything to complain. The room is nice, very clean and tidy and we loved it right away. We also loved the small touch they put in the villa such us weather information for the day, lots of brochures and magazines for events and where to go in Bali, and turned down service that always on time so we didn't have to do it ourselves. I asked them to arrange a BBQ dinner in our villa and we enjoyed it so much. The food from the restaurant were also very delicious, and we spent most of the time just stayed in villa.

The small thing we were not really happy was the swimming pool was so cold, even during daytime so we couldn't enjoy much, especially for the night swimming but overall it's one of the best villa that we've ever stayed.

The staff were very nice and friendly. We read also in tripadvisor about Annie and how helpful she was but when we met her during our stay she was not so friendly to us as all people wrote about her, perhaps because I am an Indonesian? so we won't need much assistance from her? I don't know , however that small thing won't ruin our opinion about Elysian:))
