“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

My wife and I spent the second leg of our Honeymoon here in Oct/Nov 2012. We spent a few days in Hong Kong and retreated to the spoils of Bali to simmer down in sheer luxury.

Our experience here was nothing short of amazing. From the shuttle service that greeted us with hot towels and chilled water to the arrival cocktails and possibly the friendliest hotel persons we have experienced yet.

The Villas are extremely well equipped with the finest of first world luxuries. The restaurant is exquisite with a wide variety of cuisine expertly prepared and presented.

We booked the Honeymoon special and the service far exceeded our expectations.

The spa is brilliant and I definitely recommend some pamper time.

Each villa has a sparkling splash pool lavishly adorned with teak furniture and incredible plant life.

We have no doubt in recommending this resort to anyone and will certainly visit again.

The management and staff should genuinely be proud of their beautiful resort.

My husband and I stayed for 6 nights over Christmas. The villa with our private pool was awesome, a nice retreat from the craziness of Bali. The service was excellent, great breakfast options which is included. The resort offers a shuttle service to nearby restaurants which we used several times. The treatments at the spa were very relaxing. I would definitely stay here again.

Thanks to great reviews about The Elysian, we made the right choice to stay here for 5 nights January 2013. Villas are exquisite, comfortable and a fantastic cool respite from busy Seminyak. Being Canadian, we were unique guests. Most Bali visitors come from Australia. Canadians should remember that Australians treat this paradise like a trip to Florida or the Dominican Republic. At least for your first Bali visit pay some good money for accommodation that's appropriate to the airfare price you paid to get here. I wouldn't pick a budget place for your first visit- unless you're 22 and backpacking.

Unfortunately we had to book through Expedia for our 5 night for the price of 4 deal ($300 per night including full breakfast), since the hotel's website did not offer this special. I always like to book directly with the hotel since I don't like them to lose 10 - 15% to another agency. Obviously it pays to do research when booking Bali.

Ardi is a wonderful asset to this hotel and we were lucky enough to have him drive us to Ubud for a day's tour. All staff are pleasant and professional and the food is terrific as well as the ambiance of the main restaurant. Food prices are very good and all offerings are tasty and beautifully presented. You could happily eat all your meals here, enjoy the wonderful ambiance of your villa and literally roll into your private pool from your bedroom first thing in the morning.

Sounds good? It's also a great location - 10 min walk from the souvenir and clothing market, great boutiques and "Eat Street", the street starting at Seminyak Square and the funky, Junction Restaurant - (looks like it's built of greyish white wood slats). Ku De Ta is handy for a coke and a sunset view, but don't bother eating here for the poor over- priced food. Eat at the Elysian after your Ku De Ta $11.00 cocktail with no alcohol added... Or try a $9.00 Indonesian entree at Khaima on Eat St with belly dancers on the weekend around 9.00 p.m. Fire hula hoop dancer was performing directly across the road the night we ate there. You never know what's going to happen next on Eat St.

Few things that no one mentions about Bali: 20% tax and gratuity charge is added on to your hotel charges from food to massages. Also due to Monsoon rains and tidal movements, the Seminyak, Kuta Beach becomes full of floating garbage in January. The tide leaves a detritus of plastic flip flops, plastic bags, bamboo, tree limbs along the shore. My husband stepped on a light bulb- wear shoes to walk the beach, it was not the only light bulb. Also at the time we visited, Jakarta,(not too far away by sea), was experiencing major flooding.

See my attached photos including the local paper's front page photo of the beach clean-up. I preferred my villa's pool.

We stayed here for 2 nights as our wedding anniversary celebration. The villa with only 27 units
served us well, gave us privacy. Every unit comes with a private pool, terrace, living room with
bay window, sungken bath tub and shower. It has a cozy and at home feel, nestled in a secluded alley road.
I love the plants and trees covering the path ways to the villas, with the afternoon breeze blowing, while enjoying afternoon tea by the pool. Would come back again.

We stayed at The Elysian recently for 3 nights. They picked us up from the airport and from them on all we saw from the staff were smiles whether it was the hotel GM to the guys cleaning the pools. What a pleasure, how often can you say nowadays that all staff you see in any place whether hotel, shop or restaurants that every member of staff smile, what a pleasure.. We had a really nice villa with private pool, plenty of space and amenities and if you want to relax in front of the TV for a while it has the best range of channels I have seen in any hotel world-wide, they even have apple TV with current and classic movies loaded to the brim. The pool was plenty big enough to relax whatever time of day it was.

We had a lobster dinner one night which kicked off with an hour of free cocktails whether dining or not, meal was great and relaxing by the pool. Breakfast was really good, great selection and served with a smile. If you want anything in a villa it is no problem they will bring it quickly.

Location is also pretty good, although not directly on the beach they have car service who will take you anywhere in the area free as long as their cars are there. It is a short walk to Ku De Ta which is a nice night out with great food and also lots of small boutiques, bars, local restaurants etc etc

The Spa is also a nice area to relax for a while, we didn't struggle to get a reservation at all.

All in all a really nice stay for a few nights get away. Highly recommended if you want a smaller quiet resort in Seminyak.

We stayed at the Elysian for 7 nights on our honeymoon and it was perfect. Only a short stroll to the busy part of Seminyak, which was great being tucked away from it, for a bit of peace. The service was incredible, staff were extremely friendly and more than willing to help make our stay enjoyable. The food was great and the villa was cosy and romantic. We had a private dinner in our villa with a private singer & guitar player which was really special. The food and drinks were reasonably priced for a luxury villa. We also went to the day spa on a few occasions and we were really impressed with the prices and again the staff were great. January wasn't the best time to travel to Bali as it rains quite alot - the locals told us September is the best month to travel there! (Probably alot cheaper than January too which was really expensive in general for any flights etc)

Room Tip: Ask for one of the recently renovated rooms - they have been upgraded with new furniture & TV...

Service of all staff exceeded all my expectations, very private and well appointed villa, excellent food and selections. lovely to have all the inclusions in room, dining, spa treatments and transport. My daughter, 4 years old was treated like a princess by the staff and they really spoiled her. I was a little apprehensive about taking a little one to this style of Villa, but i could not have been happier with our choice. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful holiday and especially Erni, Front desk and spa Manager. Tanya and Louisa
