Through an Indonesian travel website, we booked a honeymoon 3 day 2 nights package with Uma Sapna which included free breakfasts, one candlelight dinner, one 15 min massage, one-hour spa for couples with airport transfers, which was a good deal.

I was happy to see my name card held up at the airport arrivals by the Uma Sapna driver and was looking forward to see the villa upon reading many positive reviews on the web. The drive from the airport to the villas took around 15 minutes and after some winding through a few narrow local lanes, we arrive at a small car park which forms the simple and tucked away entrance of Uma Sapna.

Upon checking in, we were upgraded to the private pool villa (Komodo) which was nicely decorated with fresh rose petals for our honeymoon stay. Having a private pool in our villa was nice, but disappointingly, we decided to keep our bathing suits on as we are able to see next door through wooden doors which separate us from the adjacent villa.

The villa layout and amenities are quite nice, but the TV was too small and our bed sheets, although laundered, had stains. We ordered room service which took nearly two hours to deliver and after a few calls, an explanation relating to kitchen problems was finally given. We had to chase after our room service repeatedly, puzzled as there were no apologies or explanation from the staff. Quite famished, we are still quite pleased to find that the food looked and tasted good.

Uma Sapna offers Balinese, American and Continental breakfasts which we all tasted and found to be above average. On our second night, the staff set up our candlelight dinner next to the pool, which was a selection of seafood and chicken that we requested upon check-in. It would have been nice if the dinner offered local Balinese cuisine or presentation, but the staff was quite efficient and considerate in setting up the dinner, which also involved candles in the garden, so it was quite a highlight of our stay.

The next day our free 1-hour spa was an oil massage which was average, as was the service and spa surroundings.

The location of Uma Sapna makes it a little daunting to wander out of the narrow alleys it is located in. The service also leaves room for improvement, which makes Uma Sapna feels like a superior local bed and breakfast. Although it offers villas at competitive rates which offer private pools that lack complete privacy (at least in ours), a good selection of breakfast, amateurish service, offering only a glimpse of spontaneous Bali hospitality and special touches of detail that makes me long to return.

My partner and I had a great stay in the new villas at Uma Sapna. They are very nice, contemporary, modern, stylish, and beautifully designed. Lovely to have such a big pool and stylish villas right in the middle of Seminyak. Very peaceful and quite!

The only downside was the restaurant was not open yet (set to open early feb) and the food quality for breakfast was poor. Staff were nice some however do not really understand English and therefore makes it hard to communicate and we never really knew if they understood us or not. Overall great place!

Overrated villa. Nothing to shout about. Basic and tired looking. Looks more like a normal house or chalet than a villa. Nothing luxurious about it. Tasteless and bland design. Garden is unkempt. Quite a number of mosquitoes flying around. An important point to note is that there is NO kitchen. The so-called kitchen is just a small space with a kettle. Quite pathetic. Another point is that the room space is very small. And there is no door between the room and the toilet. So before you bathe, its really cold in the bathroom. After you bathe, the room is really hot due to heat from the warm water. Staff here just goes about their own business, so don’t be expected to be pampered.

A good point is that the breakfast has quite a good spread. And the staff is experienced and knows what to do.

Conclusion – Don’t expect too much from this villa. Overrated and overpriced.

Had a very enjoyable stay at the Uma Sapna. We booked the single room villa with a plunge pool and received a very pleasant surprise when we were upgraded to a single room villa with its own pool. The privacy issues mentioned in the earlier posts have been resolved - additional bamboo/ratten blinds have been installed and glass frosted where necessary.

Villa Sapna is very conveniently located in the Seminyak area. It is only 10 minutes walk away from Jalan Laksmana - Bali's 'eat street' street. The Seminak shopping area and the Prana spa is only 15 minutes walk away by cutting through the lane directly across from the entrance of the villa. Ku de ta and the Seminyak beach is a further 30 minutes walk away.

We had earlier booked a 1-bedroom villa with spa pool, and had requested for an upgrade to their 1-bedroom villa with swimming pool. To our surprise, we received an upgrade to their 2-bedroom villa for 2 nights, where of course only one room was opened for our usage.

Each villa has their own compound. Its a small and cosy resort. In our stay there, I did not see much of other tourists staying in the same resort, it felt like a world of my own. The staff pretty much left us alone, but are very helpful when asked for advice about places to go to.

The room was big and spacious. The toilet is open-concept, hidden behind a wall panel behind the bed. There are 2 wash basins (great cause you do not have to take turns), a very large bathtub that can accommodate 2 people, a standalone shower.

The service is great too. When we did not like the delivery timing on the breakfast order sheet and wrote our own timing, they delivered breakfast at exactly our timing. They even accommodated us when we asked for milk, which was not on the menu.

The swimming pool was great for dipping anytime of the day, even at night. We had some great times swimming in the morning before breakfast, and at night while enjoying a drink.

The only glitch is when they moved us to their sister villa because their 1-bedroom villa is undergoing some works, where the rooms are not as spacious and service not as great.

Overall, a great place and experience!
