“Location location location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012 via mobile

Great location. 2 minute walk to the Bintang supermarket on Legian Street but tucked down a lane way so relatively quiet for the centre of Seminyak. Villa 1 is most definitely the pick of the one bedroom villas as it has the largest decking area and pool. Villas 2-4 have smallish yards so if you are a sunbather you have limited space to catch rays depending on the suns movements throughout the day. 2 bed villas have a huge pool and deck area so no issue with sun in these ones. Furniture and fittings a little tired but the villas were clean on arrival and maintained to a good standard by housekeeping daily. Breakfast was included and adequate. We book direct with the villas via email and always score a good rate by doing so, especially as they are last minute bookings so you have some bargaining power if they have a spare villa which they'd rather let at a discount than sitting empty. We find all the staff very friendly and have had no issues with theft, even though we never use the safe deposit boxes. Don't expect 5 star but we feel it's value for money considering the central location.

We stayed in a one bedroom villa in July 2012. The location was fantastic, across the road from the bintang supermarket but down a hidden alley (with a secure gate and guard) so you are hidden away from noisy streets.
The design is quite good, and was secluded and private. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was average and limited, my boyfriend thought quite small (for him) so we decided to go out for breakfast most mornings.
The villa was clean however it is starting to look very old and is in serious need of repair. The pool area (wood) and bathroom are aging badly, as is the furniture. I probably would not stay at Downtown Villas again, as there are some much nicer and newer villas in Semiyak. However, the location is amazing.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

I have now stayed at Downtown Villas 6 times. Have stayed in most, if not all, of the two bedroom villas and the three bedroom villa twice. The last stay was in June 2012 in the three bedroom villa. The villas are starting to look a little old and in need of some repairs. Mainly the furniture in the lounge room and the outdoor seats need a good clean and a few repairs. The sheets in one of the bedrooms were dirty when we arrived and the kitchen cupboards were looking a little bare. There was a shortage of glasses, plates etc for 5 people.
- Every morning, except one, the breakfast we ordered was incorrect. Either the coffees didn't arrive, a meal was missing or the pancakes only arrived for 1 person instead of 2.
- On the last day we had paid around $200 US for late check out. Just before we were due to leave we were phoned by management to say that we needed to leave or we would be charged extra. We explained we would be ready in the next 30 minutes, but instead of waiting for us, staff arrived at the villa and stood in the lounge room waiting for us to leave, basically pushing us out! Very UNPROFESSIONAL! We were then taken to a van for transport to the airport. We advised long in advance we needed transport for 5 people. But instead, we were put into a van with room for 4 passengers. 1 of us was then asked to lie on the floor!!!!!
- Just before we were about to leave an employee and the "manager" approached me stating a small bottle of water was missing from the mini bar. I explained that no one had taken the water as there was complementary water in the kitchen we had all been drinking. He wouldn't take no for an answer and demanded 35,000 RP (about $4 AUS) before we were "allowed" to leave. After spending more then $2000US, they were arguing with me about $4!!!! I basically threw the money at him and we left :( not a great way to end a fantastic holiday!!!!
- So, the good bits: GREAT LOCATION just off the main Street of Seminyak. Opposite Bintang Supermarket and down a small alley. So its quiet and peaceful when in the villa.
HUGE private lap pool in all two bedroom and the 3 room villas.
- As I have said, this is my sixth time to downtown but repeat business doesn't seem to mean anything to Downtown Management. For the money, I will be looking at other villas in Seminyak for my annual trip to Bali. This will probably be the last time I go to Downtown Villas!

Stayed here for 41/2 nights at the end of our 3 week holiday in Bali. Just wandered in off the street whilst looking for some other villa's. Got a good "drop in" deal. Location is excellent!-hidden down a side alley just around the corner from Bintang supermarket. Secure look and feel. So close to Kuta, Legian, Seminyak and thousands of shops and restaurants.Amazingly very quiet in villas. Nice layout and design with heaps of space. We could have stayed there for weeks-even done your own cooking! Pools were plenty enough to enjoy.Service to villa was very good-staff were excellent-very friendly. Breakfast is ok-could do with a bit more effort. We stayed in more than one villa due to a booking issue and got a very late check out with an upgraded villa. Some parts of villa's are showing wear and tear-but this is Bali! Overall the full package is a winner for us-we would certainly book here again.

Room Tip: Haggle for a cheaper rate or a better deal.

We stayed at In 3 bedroom villa in May with another family and loved it. The pool was lovely, location perfect and staff so friendly. The villas were also nice and clea and the rooms big enough to get extra mattress on floor for kids.
My only area for improvement would be poor water pressure in upstairs bathroom sinks only (which really didnt matter as we used bottled water to brush teeth), not enough warm water to fill bath and the breakfasts which were included were average.
Other than that i would highly recommend this place for families, also a great spot for celebrating a special ocassion as the inside opens out to the pool, which sets up as a great place for a party.
Our friends stayed next door in 2 bedroom villa which was exactly the same just without the external bedroom on the ground floor.
Also acoss the road from supermarket was great. Villas have large fridges.
I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Downtown for 10 nights in 1 bedroom villa which all have a plunge pool large enough to cool off and deck area with 2 sun lounges, table & chairs.
The rooms have kitchenette which is great as they are very close to Bingtang supermarket and not far from Bali Deli should you wish to make light meals or food for drinks. If you don't want ants don't leave out food - simple!
We found the Villas to be comfortable and the staff very helpful in attending to any problems (such as replacing sun lounge where cover has started to tear). They attend to the room twice a day. Clean villa during the day at convenient times then turn down beds, set lighting, clean dishes & remove rubbish around 6pm - great service.
Breakfast is provided in rooms at allocated time from Indonesian, American or continental. Take your own vegemite if you can't live without it!
The best asset for Downtown is the location in the heart of Seminyak 50m down the small road but is very quiet. Yes, there are some small potholes in the road that fill when it rains but Bali footpaths & roads are not in A1 condition and this is no different.
Downtown is close to supermarket, shops and great restaurants. A short $2 taxi ride (use Bluebird as they turn the meter on) to Legian / Kuta or up to Eat Street for many of Bali's best restaurants.
Has a room for a gym if you are so inclined but didn't go near that so can't offer any adivce on equipment but has bike, treadmill & weights.
Enjoyed a late check out which is normally to 6pm (additional cost at 50% or room rate) but were able to stay until we were taken to airport at 9pm.

Room Tip: My tip - if you walk further down the road away from the main street you'll find a lovely small...

Stayed for 3 nights. The 1 bed villa OK size wise for 2 people with small deck and plunge pool. Agree with previous review that it has not aged well and some minor repairs are needed. We didn't use the complimentary one way air port pick up as we travelled to Seminyak from Ubud. When we inquired about transport to the airport we were advised it would be US$25. A cab from JL Seminyak in front of Bintang Supermarket to the airport was Rp50,000 (about $5). The location is excellent and the staff friendly.
