“Looooove this hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

This is a classic garden hotel which is very well located in Bali. The design is not modern, and the one and only negative is that the corridor to our room was not really attractive.

However, the room was nice and they did a good job a maintenance. We had a balcony and when the kids were excited to find a large bird perched on the tree just across the balcony. We spent a few minutes arguing whether it was a statue, because it was just so relaxed and quiet, until it turned its head and blinked. Haha! If the bird is comfortable living there, it means the garden is wonderfully kept.

Bathroom and amenities were of high quality. I love the smell of the soap and shampoo.

The pools were great! My kids had a great time swimming there in the morning. Unfortunately the weather was not so good when we were there, so we didnt get to enjoy the beach and I cant comment on the quality of the beach. But of course this is not the hotel's fault. :))

Now, the one thing that I really, really have to note is the breakfast! It was the most wonderful breakfast we had during the trip. The taste was amazing, and I've never seen my kids eat so much for breakfast. Well done, kitchen staff! :):)

The hotel staff was also friendly and helpful. They happily took our photos and lend us umbrellas when we were going out.

I will certainly be back in this hotel the next time in Bali! Especially for the breakfast...

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel. We would rate our holiday in Bali as one of our most memorable experience mainly because of our stay at this hotel. Customer service at this hotel is impeccable. We were greeted with warm greetings and smiles from each and every staff we met at the hotel.
Watching the sunset at the hotel beachfront is a must. So well located. Having dinner on the beach is also a romantic experience.
Overall, highly recommended especially if you are looking for a romantic stay!

Stayed here at the end of our Bali trip, third and most expensive hotel we stayed in. It didn't dissapoint.

Location: excellent beach front location, close to some great on the beach bars that open at night. Short stroll up the beach to other nightlife and restaurants. We stayed beachfront in Tuban, Kuta and Seminyak, and Seminyak was our favourite.

Room: we were upgraded from a standard room to a deluxe king upon check-in, which made us very happy! Room was lovely, clean, with a balcony, all the amenities you need. Is just one room though, so would need to upgrade again if you wanted a sitting area also.

Amenities: Main beachfront pool area was very crowded with families (was the peak season), we found it more relaxing at the garden pool, which was lovely. We also swam in the ocean, and had sunset cocktails at the bar overlooking the beach.

Food: we did not eat at the resort, so can't comment. But surrounding restaurants were great. No breakfast was included, but there was a small cafe just up the road from the Resort that did great cheap breakfasts.

That was probably the only downside value wise - no breakfast included, and as much as I love my Bali eggman breakfast, we couldn't justify the $30USD for the breakfast.

The Royal Beach Seminyak is a lovely resort and the staff make your stay very peaceful but with all the development going on in Bali, it does need some investment in the rooms as there are features that look quite dated and based on feedback of other guests around the pool, others felt the same.

I was upgraded to a Deluxe room, thank you to the hotel and had a very peaceful room overlooking the internal gardens with a hint of the ocean beyond. The room in itself was lovely and quite spacious although if two people were staying and you decided to stay in for the night, it could be a bit tight. The blinds do not provide full darkness at night which if you were wanting to sleep beyond the sun rising, it could be problematic. The bathroom, as for all females, was where i had some concerns - I struggled to get hot showers and several efforts to have the issue fixed were short term and to not have a power outlet in the bathroom to use a hair dryer is a bit dated. Whilst we all travel with our own toiletries, when using those supplied I noticed refreshment was intermittent as was turn down - although I know many hotels have done away with this, in a total 8 night stay, only received this service twice, so unsure if it is in place here or not?

The spa was disappointing - when you are charging prices up to 4-5 times what the private spas in Seminyak are charging, you want to ensure your service is impeccable and I can say I would not use the spa again - when provided with a complimentary massage as part of long term stay inclusion and not be able to book in until the end of my trip, unless I upgraded the service and paid for an additional treatment is rather frustrating but to then not receive what I believe to be a full facial treatment (having had lots of experience in this area) is rather disappointing.

The breakfast buffet is beautiful, the array of cuisine options perfect for those wanting to be adventurous and representative of the multicultural guests - the staff were devine, often operating under trying circumstances in terms of available staff on the floor.

The pool staff were lovely - it would be nice to see a less traditional hotel menu incorporating the western and Balinese standards - I have seen more creative menus at other properties in Bali.

As an Aussie and with one of the best wine producing regions about four hours away from Bali, it is disappointing to see wines from more far reaching regions such as California and Chile featured but that may be a reflection of the property being part of an international chain of hotels.

The Royal Beach is well placed for walks into Seminyak and close to many of the better restaurants available - would I return, maybe but will also be doing my homework to see what else is there for next time.

The Royal Beach Seminyak - Mum, Dad & 5 yo. daughter stayed 5 nights in March 2012

STAFF: Beautiful! Forget if they can actually do their jobs well (which they can BTW), they are all just so smiley, welcoming & warm. You are greeted everywhere you go around the resort and it just makes you feel so welcome. We went from this resort to another in Sanur and whilst it was a great place we were hardly ever greeted and it really made us feel differently about our stay. Well done to you Royal Beach for making guests feel like they are at home not just another visitor!

ROOM: We had booked a deluxe room but were lucky enough to receive an upgrade to a beach front Villa. It was heaven! You walk in through your private front gate to a beautiful courtyard complete with table & 4 chairs, umbrella, cabana, plunge/whirl pool & gorgeous veranda. The gardens are beautiful and each day someone comes and sweeps the grass & paths as well as cleans the pool. The Villa is great. The bedroom is huge complete with king size bed, mosquito net, desks air conditioning & TV. The ceiling is high with a view of the traditional thatching. The bathroom has separate bath & shower and has all the bits & bobs you would need (toothbrush, paste, sewing kit, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, nail care, etc). There is a kitchen with small full size fridge and an instant espresso machine - the coffee pods are delicious!

POOLS: There are 2. The main pool just back from the beach is large and has several features such as a bridge, statues & kiddies wading pool to keep your children intrigued. Always clean and with a gorgeous out look. The 2nd pool is hidden in the garden and it great too. The outlook is lush gardens and the hotel rooms beyond. Each morning signs are put out at both pools requesting guests NOT to leave their towels out unattended for more than half an hour so everyone can have a chance of a sun lounge - this is great in theory but doesn't always work. Also some times all lounges are full and you have nowhere to sit but soon enough one becomes available - could be tricky in high season.

FOOD: Breakfast buffet is good with many options from the standards of eggs, bacon & sausages to a japanese corner, Indonesian options & lots of sweet pastries. Yummy! Room service was good with all the usual suspects such as club sandwiches, spag bol as well as nasi goreng etc. Delivered hot & on time it's a winner. You can enjoy drinks & food around the pool or out on the lawn. Again food is good.

SPA: We received a massage each as part of our accommodation package. It was delightful! You are in your own private room with gentle music & it smells great. Our massage therapist was so professional & we each really enjoyed our hour long massage. The manager worked with us to fit us in before we had to check out.

SECURITY: A huge presence at the front driveway with each vehicle being checked both in the car & the boot. There are also security personnel at the beach which gives a holidaying family huge peace of mind.

LOCATION: Close to some local shops, but a short taxi ride to Eat Street. We walked south on the beach path to the Padma then cut inland and along to the Bintang Supermarket all with a 5 year old. An easy stroll if you have lots of time & don't mind a pit stop here and there for a Bintang : )

FAULTS: I am struggling to come up with any! Let me think.... no can't think of any : ) Thank you very much for an excellent 5 night stay & start t our holiday.

This is a very nice hotel in an excellent location. However we were paying a 5* price for our room which was not really outstanding for the price.
The location of the hotel is excellent as it has a beach frontage and is withing easy reach (ie walk or short taxi ride) of excellent restaurants and shopping but I do think that $300 US for a room and breakfast (we actually paid around $250 without breakfast (a nice breakfast can be obtained on the beach at Zanzibar for under $10) but breakfast was available at $27 per person) needs to be justified.
We arrived at the checkin time of 2pm and a/our room was not ready - as was the case for others also.
The room was okay but had minor irritations - the airconditioning had no remote control and could not be set above 26C which was to cold for us, the toilet must have been designed for a midget (or perhaps a small Balinese person?), there was no single easily located switch that turned all the lights in the room off, etc. etc.
It was a nice room but whether it was worth $250 (or $300 if you include breakfast) is another question!
Another considerable irritation was that we were there on the eve of Nyepi (which is the Balinese (Hindu) New Year and is one of their most important religious hoildays) and were told by hotel staff that we would have to go to the airport (which is normally 20 to 30 minutes away) at 4pm to catch our 11pm flight because there would be a Nyepi procession. The hotel could/would not provide us with any information regarding road closures so that we could catch a taxi ourselves so we took the hotel car at 5pm (at 5* cost again) which was going to the airport to pickup passengers and we arrived at 5:30pm and the driver certainly knew the way and there was only one small minor deviation from the normal trip. The hotel could have provided some service for the cost of their hotel room for 4 nights! We had to wait at the airport for approximately five and a half hours (the asme time it took us to fly back to Melbourne) and we had the impression that the hotel simply wanted to get everyone out of there so that the staff could go home for Nyepi - their advice was not very useful!
