“Really lovely but light sleepers beware”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Beautifully laid out accommodation, with lovely modern furnishings and great pool in daybeds. Unfortunately there was a nightclub very close by that wanted to keep the party going until past 4am and I was unable to get a good nights sleep. So light sleepers, bring some heavy duty earplugs!

Thanks for your review Amy.

When we opened we actually supplied complimentary earplugs for our guests, but they remained un-used so we stopped the practice. After your comment I will look into having them supplied again on request from the guests.

Regards, Lou

OK, we may be fussy but we thought Semniyak was horrible....however thats not what this review is about ! The Ginger Suites was lush. We stayed in a one bedroom suite for 3 nights and really couldn't fault it at all. We met the owners who were just lovely and learning that they have a theatrical background made sense...the design, the decor, and the flamboyance of the place ! Everything about it is well thought out, well designed and well planned. Add to this a team of exceptional staff and this place is a winner. We had a specific situation, which had nothing to do with Ginger and the staff, in particular Meiki and Kadek went well out of their way, literally, to help us, always with smiles and warmth that are so welcome when one is frazzled. As we really did not think much of the surrounding area, we were quite happy to use the pool and the day beds before going for a massage and a bite to eat and we found the room very comfy, enough space to unpack and the bath ! ....., oh the bath !! such a joy ! Highly recommended and as they are a new kid on the block I am sure it will become one of those places you have to book well in advance. We loved it, just hated Semniyak

Room Tip: We had suite 5 which is the at the end but the rooms are well built and we had no noise from neighbo...

Thank you so much for the great review. Very interested to read your comments regarding the location, and I appreciate the care you took in distinguishing your thoughts on the area from our accommodation.

Most of our guests love the location with the nightlife, restaurants and fashion, plus of course the vibrant atmosphere of Seminyak Beach at Sunset. If you are coming to Seminyak for a quiet tropical escape in thatched bungalows on the beach, those days have gone. You can still find that experience in places such as Amed in East Bali and Lovina in the North, or better still take a trip to nearby Lombok. Ginger Suites is more inner-city living, Bali style.

Thank you for the great comments regarding our staff, who are always happy to help.

Myself & two girlfriends stayed in the 2 bedroom suite for 3 nights. It was perfect!
The staff were super nice & very helpful.
We never had a problem with drivers finding the place ... When I emailed Bali Ginger Suites to tell them that we would be arriving late & had arranged our own transport, they emailed me a map, together with the map & helpful advise on Facebook, we had no problem getting there.
It's well located, down a couple of side streets, but easy to get to/from the many surrounding shops, restaurants & bars (we walked to most places).
The bamboo sheets were divine!!!!!!!! The suite was kept very clean & little things (like, power points next to the bed for charging your phone, large water dispenser, informative guest book, free wi-fi etc.) made the stay enjoyable.
Like most places in Bali, mosquitoes can be a problem, however, the staffed sprayed our suite once or twice a day to ensure they were kept at bay. Although I'd personally prefer not to be subjected to chemical sprays, my friends were pleased as they both react badly to mosquito bites.
The complimentary pastries & muffins were ok, but to be honest, there are so many amazing cafes & restaurants close by, that having a small "breakfast" was a good thing, that way we could eat lots of yummy food for lunch & dinner. (Awesome food at "Mama San" ,"La Sal" & "Sea Circus").
The pool was great, we spent a couple of afternoons lazing by the pool on the beds & reading our books. It was a really nice twist to have to cross the pool bridge to get to our villa too.
All in all, a brilliant place to stay & I'd definitely stay again :)
Thanks to the owner & staff (especially the head lady, I forget her name tho) for a fantastic place to stay.

Firstly, this is hard to find - more than half the drivers didn't know how to locate it and we found getting dropped off by La Sal restaurant easier than trying to give more complex directions. Not the fault of the property but something to note when travelling here. You want to get on Drupadi road and continue until you see the little row of Umbrellas, and next to Waldo's Warung.

We had a one bedroom suite, was new and cosy and red. Was about $100 a night, and not bad for Seminyak area for a last minute booking. Check in was ok, though like another reviewer here they very strongly discourage payment by visa or mastercard which made it very tricky for us as we had just come from a remote mountain retreat which had no atm facilities.

Room itself was small, wifi for us was patchy at best and wasn't a strong signal no matter where we sat but it is free so can't complain too much. The bamboo sheets are lovely, very soft and clean and makes me want to seek them out back here as i adored the feel of them. Big bed, very limited hanging space but cutely designed. This is more of a place i feel you come back to after touring Kuta and Seminyak rather than lounging around all day.

Also beware that if it rains heavily you will get some water around the door of your bedroom, gets a bit slippery so be careful.

Pool was refreshing and we made use of it during our stay to recover from the humidity. I also liked the free spring water in the kitchen, was nice to know there are some good eco policies and waste management.

The information book was great, but one suggestion would be some brochures from local cafes/restaurants as we wanted to eat in one night and due to the internet not working had a hard time finding numbers or recommendations on places that do deliver. We had a pizza from La Cosa Nostra, just on Dayana Pura street... was ok but nothing flash.

Reception was nice, they helped us book taxis and gave us good directions to places and the level of English was far better than most places we encountered.

I did like the place, but limited breakfast options do make it trickier than staying in a slightly bigger hotel for similar money where it is provided.

Room Tip: The Shikumen Suite looks gorgeous, more private but gets booked quickly. Ginger Suites are cute and...

Hi, and thankyou for the great review. I am sure other guests will find it helpful.

We really like the idea of serving breakfast. unfortunately at the moment our permit does not permit it, and we do not have a kitchen to enable us to provide breakfast. however we are working on the situation, and until it is resolved we will continue to supply complimentary pastries to our guests.

We highly recommend guests pre-book an airport transfer on arrival to help find us. It is very difficult for taxi drivers with new properties and roads emerging all the time, and a business that you thought was a landmark suddenly closes. Many roads, including ours, have more than one name, and street numbers are a random event. Once you are here, transport to and from Bali Ginger Suites is easy and cheap, and many places are within walking distance.

We do accept credit card payments when booking, but are unable to process on arrival. This is a problem with the merchant bank here which is frequently overloaded with credit card payments. In our confirmation email guests are informed that they need to pay the remainder in cash on arrival.

This has been our first Wet Season since we opened, and we apologise if the rain found its way under your door. We will have a look at the balcony and see what can be done to prevent this in the future. However it can be difficult here when we are experiencing so-called "horizontal" rain.

We are glad that you liked staying here and look forward to your next trip. Regards, Lou.

Relatively new and clean.Stayed in the 2 rooms. Had to cross a bridge to get to our rooms, unique! With the exception of the music from the clubs at night, not too loud, many drivers had a hard time looking for the place even when we gave them the namecard of the resort.
Bed was great, tv channels had a wide variety, breakfast a bit boring after eating the same pastries for 4 days.Staff attitude commendable.Only 1 setback, when I tried to pay by visa, the staff told me the machine may not be working as the internet connection is not very strong in the area . Suspected that visa was not encouraged, the staff had to plug in the visa machine which as left on a shelf unplugged. The free wifi we had in the resort did not given us much of a problem.

Hi, and thank you for staying with us, and also for the lovely review. We are glad you appreciated the uniqueness of the property and I am sure others will find your review helpful.

Processing visa and credit card is fine when guests pay a deposit, however it is difficult making final payments here due to the merchant bank that processes the payment. We have recently added Paypal as an alternative means of payment.

We look forward to seeing you next time, Regards, Lou
