“Relaxation and restoration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

My husband and I spent a few nights celebrating my birthday and Christmas at Amana Villas. We stayed in the Pool Villa which was perfect for us. Our bed was extremely comfortable and being able to have a restful sleep was pure bliss! The pool was a lovely reprieve from the humidity and we made sure to utilise it as much as possible.

From the time we stepped off the plane we were greeted by the friendly driver who provided us with cool towels and cold bottled water, which was a welcome relief to the heat, even though we arrived early hours of the morning. He answered any queries we had on the way to the villa and also provided us with information of the new roads and sites around Bali, as it had been a few years since our last visit. The staff at the villa were wonderful and catered to our every need and were always respectful and friendly. The gifts we received each night on our bed when it was turned down was always a pleasant surprise and creative.

As it was rained most of the time we were there, due to it being during the wet season, the provision of their roomy umbrellas were definitely a must have which we were thankful for.

My birthday was before Christmas and the villa surprised me with the most delectable chocolate and banana cake in the morning which accompanied breakfast. It was so thoughtful and presented cheerfully with a “Happy birthday” tune from the staff. I was tremendously grateful for that kind gesture on a special day. The breakfasts at Amana were both delicious and fresh each day. Christmas itself, we were given a special menu for breakfast and that didn’t fail to please either.

They say location is everything and the location of Amana Villas is absolutely faultless! The ability to walk a few steps and you have the best restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping was awesome!!! Coco Mart is an added bonus on the corner as it was easy to grab any alcohol, snacks, toiletries and even socks for the colder days. Even though the villas are so close to the main road you wouldn't think it as we never heard any street noise and were able to completely relax and unwind.

Amana Villas wasn’t the first villas we have stayed at but it was definitely one that we will definitely return to!

I decided to go to Bali for my 25th wedding anniversary which fell on 4 March. I couldn't decide on the place to stay until 3 weeks before my departure. The villa that I originally want to book was booked out so after looking at some of the reviews on the internet, I decided to stay at Amana Villa. What a blessing it was. The butler who picked us up at the airport was right at the arrival hall waiting for us. Gave us water and cold towel each time we stepped onto the car. Gave us many kind advises as to where to visit and which restaurants to eat and which taxi to take and where to change our money. Everyone at the villa was kind, helpful and courteous, always addressed us by our names. We booked a one bedroom villa with private pool. The villa was clean, modern and comfortable. The pool was small but it was so good to go in for a dip after a day out, as Bali was always hot and humid. There was wifi in the car, lobby and villa but the only down point of the villa was wifi in the villa room was very slow. Wifi in the car was fantastic though. We had breakfast at the villa for 2 days and the food was very nice. Villa offers free transport within seminyak area, any time we wanted to go out we had no problem getting the butler to drive us to our destination. We had the villa to arrange 2 tours and they could accommodate our time and everywhere we wanted to go. The butler even took us out for currency exchange at 10.30pm. One day my husband bought a shirt at an outlet which was 2 hours drive from the villa. The lady at the outlet lied to us about the size and we didn't check upon payment. The next day when my husband discovered the shirt was wrong in size, the butler took it back to the outlet and exchanged it for my husband. Where in the world would you get such a service by a hotel? We also had a complimentary Balinese massage one day and we paid for a 2 hour spa on another occasion and it was just a total bliss. Villa even helped us to book the restaurants for our fine dining. The villa is situated not on the main road, kind of on a small alley way. Looks kind of out of place but it is so quiet. On the main road which is just outside the villa, it was a street full of some fine restaurants and boutiques. It was sad to leave. But I will surely go back there again and will not hesitate to recommend it to my family and friends.

We have travelled to many places and take with us high standards and expectations. We could not fault Amana Villas, from the quality contemporary finish and freshness of the villas through to the impeccable room service. Their meticulous attention to detail and non-intrusive service style made for an extremely pleasant and peaceful stay; although just a 2 minutes stroll to the busy main shopping street the villas are so quiet you could easily believe you were in the country. Breakfasts were divine and catered for gluten free needs. Our one bedroom villa plunge pool was perfect and did not want for anything more.

Regards, Marc & Kristine

Room Tip: For two people, our one bedroom villa plunge pool was perfect.

Positives:

1. Beautifully designed villas.
- We booked a waterfall villa for 4 nights but there was a problem with our outdoor and pool lights on the 1st night. They tried to fix it all day the second day, even whilst we were still in the villa, so this of course created a bit of a hassle for us. In the end, they still couldn't find the problem so they moved us to the signature villa for our 3rd and 4th nights. The signature villa is much bigger, with a bigger garden and pool, but I prefer the overall flow and design of the waterfall villa. In the signature villa, in order to leave the bedroom, you have to exit through the bathroom, up a flight of stairs, go through the living room, then down another flight of stairs before you reach the front door. The waterfall villa has an exit directly from the bedroom, so it is better designed. However, despite this flaw, the villas are beautiful.

2. Very good service.
- Almost everyone tries to go out of their way to make you feel like a king. They are very courteous and always try to make polite conversation and give helpful tips. They serve us breakfast separately since my wife wakes up much earlier than me. We fill up our breakfast orders separately the day before, with the specific time we want our food delivered. The small nuisance here is that they always keep calling the next day, just before they bring you your food, which of course wakes me up earlier than I had planned to get up. The purpose of having you specify the breakfast time is so that they don't have to ask you in the morning if you want your breakfast now, right? But they are always very polite and friendly when they arrive so it's hard to get irritated.

- I should also mention that they went above and beyond in resolving our outdoor lighting issue in the waterfall villa (room 202). Aside from transferring us to a bigger villa, we were given additional perks for the inconvenience.

- Big thanks to Krisna and also Sujana for giving us a wonderful stay.

3. Extras
- Every villa has an ipod and ipad free for you during your stay. Aside from this, the signature villas has an iphone which you can also take around with you. You are also lent matching hats and a beach/shopping bag for the ladies. Also, the breakfast is really good.

Negatives:

1. Bathroom lighting.
- The bathroom lighting does set a romantic tone, which I am sure is what the architect wanted to achieve, but it is not functional. There should be an option to make the bathroom brighter. My wife complained to me that she can't tell if she looks like a clown with her make up as she can hardly see herself.

2. No personal butler.
- All the butlers are quite good, but of course some better than others. Our favorite was Krisna. The complain is that they change butlers so often they shouldn't call them butlers. A butler should be dedicated to just you, so what they have are more typical hotel staff, who try to give you personalized service but not a personal butler. We would have given a bigger tip if our butler was the same one everyday.

All in all, an amazing stay. Great place to stay if you chose to stay in a villa and not a hotel. Remember, a hotel has all the amenities, i.e. restaurant, bar, pool, common areas to hang out and see people, while a villa is your own private residence, hence no common areas, except the small lobby. We will definitely stay in Amana again if we decide to stay in a villa, but maybe we'll try the hotel experience next time.

Room Tip: Waterfall villa is nicer than the signature villa.

Located in the quite part of Seminyak, the villas are just amazing. The room has free WI-fi and you are provided with a calling card and an i-pad on arrival. The rooms are spacious beautiful and in one word "Perfect". I went there for my honeymoon in February'13 and although it's been more than a year now, but the memories are fresh as ever. The plunge pool is a delight and keep the villa alive. The staff made us feel just at home as they were the nicest hotel staff. There's a supermarket close by just a two minute walk, where every grocery and daily needs items are available and alcoholic(beer) and non-alcoholic beverages as well and that too at a very gud price. I just loved it, will go there again too just to stay in the hotel.

We recently stayed at amana villas ... From the moment I stepped out of the taxi
I was impressed ... The service is impeccable ... Our villa was breath taking and we knew this set the bar for an awesome holiday ... Our butler was readily available to meet every request nothing was too big or small ... The location is perfect close to all of the newest and best restaurants and bars in seminyak .... And we had the most romantic and fun holiday ... My 12th visit to Bali and this was by far the best... The waterfall villa is incredible ...highly recommend paying a few extra dollars as you can chill in your room ... relax by the pool Or dine and lounge upstairs with cafe doors opened enjoying great tunes from your bose system ...will not disappoint and I'm very fussy!!!

My second time at Amana, having stayed in 2012, when they'd first opened. The villas are perfectly designed to flow from living area, through to the bedroom and bathroom, which each open onto the pool and courtyard. The contemporary design is very classy, but also comfortable. You even have a voice of bathrobes - toweling or silky bamboo fabric! The villas come with complimentary iPads, loaded with an endless supply of music to suit all tastes.

The location could not be better, tucked away in a laneway off the main drag, so it's central, but very quiet and private. The staff are wonderful - friendly, professional. The breakfast is great and served in your villa.

The country club/gym is not far away, by hotel car. The hotel cars are happy to drop you off anywhere in the local area - eg restaurants, shops... The spa is also good - and reasonable value, compared to other swanky spas in the area.

Room Tip: I've only ever stayed in a pool villa, but have no complaints, as it's huge; but I suppose t...
