Loved our stay at semara
Why?
- nice new, clean kids club with friendly staff- 2 hrs inclusive which meant we could duck out to the shops without dragging them along in the heat
- amazing clean day spa with inclusive vouchers-a nice treat
- lovely suites that accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids... Very comfy beds and saved $ as many hotels don't allow 4 in a room
- convenience of restaurants and room service great
- pool area lovely with day beds and smaller pool for younger kids
Location- next door to potato head, opposite biku and more new boutiques at front door. 2 min cab to main shops
- breakfast buffet good... Would have liked to see something new each day although there was plenty of choice.
Our last stay we were in a private villa and we really enjoyed our Bali visit more this time because of semara.
Have to mention how friendly all the staff were from housekeeping, pool attendants to security.
Thank you

My partner and i stayed from 2 jan for 10 nights... After having spent Xmas and new year in kuta. The semara is bliss .. We were upgraded to superior room overlooking the spa and it was gorgeous. The service is impeccable ... The room was huge and beautiful. We loved the pool area, the restaurant ... Actually everything about it. It's not on the beach ... Though living in Perth that's not an issue for us but if u want the beach you can walk to it next door through potato head. If you love kuta, haggling, noise and commotion u may find it a bit quiet. We thought it was bliss.... Seminyak is lovely... Great boutiques, shopping and restaurants. The money changer opposite hotel was great... If u change large amount ask for best price and he will oblige. Biku (turn left 2 mins out of hotel) is fantastic... Great brekky and high tea and best flat white in Bali. Ultimos rrstaurant in seminyak is great ... But get semara to book u a table.... It is very reasonable... Ku de ta (beach club) in walking distance and a great splurge for dinner... Again grt reception to book for you. Like a top end Perth restaurant but still cheaper. If u drink spirits ... Bring ur duty free for the room... U can ring down for a bucket of ice;) taxi in to seminyak ( but u can walk) is about $2. I loved the semara... And can't wait to go back...

I just got back from four nights in this hotel. We had emailed with reservation department in the weeks before to request a ground floor room. Upon arrival, despite the commitment from Sekar the reservation lady, there appeared to be only a 1st floor room available. Staff offered to change us the next day but we didn't want to go through the hazzle of changing rooms. More importantly, we choose this hotel because of the KidsClub and the complimentary two-hour stay per day "for all guests of Semara Hotel". Apparantly, our room rate didn't include this. I argued that this wasn't stated anywhere and their argument was that it wasn't mentioned in the small print that it was included and I could only get it if I did an upgrade. On our last day, we were rushed out of our room at noon whilst the reservation lady had clearly stated (in an email) that our check-out time was 2pm. Staff argued this was a mistake and we had to leave the room. On top of it all, the "Deck" restaurant served us half-rare chicken sate (It was still pink, something I noticed just before I wanted to feed my two year old!). They eventually comped the entire bill (we had two soups, drinks and bowls of rice), but still an awkward experience. Staff was overall very nice, like everywhere on this wonderful island, but didn't seem to be trained in giving 5-star customer experience. Spa was good (according to my wife), swimming pool very basic, no direct acces to beach. All in all, a good hotel but certainly not at the level they aspire to be.

Room Tip: Rooms can be quite a stretch from entrance, would recommend before or facing swimming pool, but avoi...

We stayed at semara for 4 nights and it was beautiful. The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us. We had a superior suite on the 1st floor which was divine. We had a huge balcony which overlooked the gardens and the spa area. The deck bar and restaurant were excellent and the staff were wonderful here. We recieved a free 60min massage each for staying 3 nights or more which was deluxe. Please be aware that once a week (on Friday in our case) they use a smoker to spray for mozzies etc at 6am in the morning and it is very loud and the noise lasts for about half an hour. A huge bonus is it is right next door to potato head and a great club/restaraunt around the corner called hu'u, def worth a look.

Room Tip: Superior suite was stunning and they have interconnecting rooms which is great for people travelling...

Room was far too small. Never take a poolside room! Spa lovely. Supposed to face yoga and aqua but these never happened. Breakfast very average and far too noisy on street with petrol fumes! Staff very good and helpful. Tries to be too many things to too many different market segments. Not really big enough to cater to couples and children. Very badly designed at the front. Only boutique sells children's clothes and second hand books! Would not choose next time.

This was our 3rd place of stay during our 10 day trip to Bali with our 2 kids (6 &10). From the moment I came, I felt happy to be there. Of course the staff were awesome and rediculously helpful.
We did request an interconnecting room but they were full so that was the only downer.
If you like spotless, you cant go wrong. Everything was quality (even the soap).
Pool was wonderful, great temperature. Poolside dinner was nice - we made use of the Thai buffet, and contrary to how I normally eat in Bali (simple not to cause stomach upsets) I went and tasted all the spicey food etc.. that night (and for the 7 days afterwards) I had pretty bad stomach pains, not Bali belly, more like reflux / heartburn. So that was unpleasant, if I did it over, I would stick to the a-la-carte.
The other thing whic can be improved upon is the breakfast. It was "bad" but I think we were spoilt at the Courtyard by Marriott (Nusa Dua). The last day we went down the road (2 mins by taxi) to Grocer and Grind (100 metres from Seminyak Square) and that was great.

Kids club was really really good. My kids think they are "too old" for that, but did go back a second time as they had computers, playstations, movie rooms, craft corners etc etc... SUPER clean and VERY well done!!! It meant we got to indulge in the spa treatments.
I went back 3 times (we did a couples one, reflexology and the scalp / hair one) and they were ALL the BEST treatments I have had. 1/4 what you'd pay in Australia and it was in an environment that you DO actually relax in. HIGHLY recommended BUT BOOK!!!

Oh, Wifi IS pretty bad there but one day worked well enough for my husband to catch up on the live cricket.

Yes, that music they play needs to be turned off for a big part of the day, some people like to get an afternoon sleep (we were next to the pool / speakers)
If we come again with our kids, we would return.

Room Tip: Parents make sure you reserve interconnecting. Also request a room that is not near the pool area if...
