“Fantastic place...did not want to leave!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2011

We have just come back from a 7night stay in La Villais and it was an amazing place. The staff, the villas, the location - everything seemed perfect to us.

The staff were always very friendly, especially with our 18 month old son. The Balinese love children and this was very evident here. One lovely waiter even took him for a little walk while we finished our breakfast in peace!

Breakfast was nice, although you do get a bit sick of eating same thing everyday but it is nice that it is included. You can also take your food back to the villa to eat, which is what we did a few mornings as it was easier to entertain a toddler in our own villa rather than in the restaurant!

Room was amazing, really 5 star. We did have a small issue with mosquitos but not a big problem. Staff spray for mozzies during the week and also when they turn down your bed in the evening. I think you just need to be vigilant around dusk and make sure you have the mosquito nets drawn and the doors closed.

Staff cleaned both the villa and the pool everyday and it could not be faulted.

We availed of the shuttle to Kuta twice and on our final day they even dropped us at our next hotel near the airport which was about 10 minutes further from Kuta. They do anything they can to help you.

Location was perfect for us, close enough to the restaurants and bars yet still quiet and peaceful. We did have an issue with noise on the first day as they were doing some repairs to the villa next door but as soon as we asked about it the manager made the workmen stop so my son could have his lunchtime nap, and we were moved to a villa further from the noise that afternoon.

Villas are about a 20min walk to the beach but we took this into account when we booked so knew this...taxis are so cheap, that if you dont feel like walking there is no problem!

One suggestion would be to maybe have an in-house babysitter available but this was not really too big an issue as we got a recommendation from the Trip Advisor Bali forum for a nanny service.

I would definitely recommend this place, and I hope we will be back some day.

We stayed this villa for 3nights after aria villa( we highly recommend this villa) ,
It was good villa with good size pool but not a good finishing furniture, the staff service and bed bug issues let us down.
we arrived from aria to la villais after 3pm and still had to wait for check in without knowing why we have to wait they decorate our room, bath tub with flowers which was nice but we had to got up middle of the night by itching we thought might me mosquito but it was bed bug!! cuz I killed one second night right on my arm !! and I had red rash all over my body so I had to come to the desk and complain about it. Actually I had few more issues before I decided to complain about it.
They said they have free shuttle service to kuta and seminyak but whenever we ask them they don't have shuttle to service us so they always says we call you a cab.
not the cab fees expensive(its only $2) just their attitude was rude.
We asked him if we can get a lift to seminyak at 11:30 and he said no there's no shuttle so he said he can call a cab for us.
but I saw one guy made a reservation for the shuttle bus for the next morning at 11:30 and they said Yes to him.

and when we checked in our room finally the room wasn't clean enough like floor felt dusty and hairs everywhere.
about the shuttle service he said they have set time for the free shuttle service which was 12. well he could explain to us when we asked him at the first place instead just saying no shuttle we can wait 30mins
anyway, after I complained about the bed bugs, shuttle service they changed their attitude 180' the manager said he can drive us privately when we wanna go.
and asked us if we organised our airport taxi but we already organized about it.
they tried to make it up after we complained about how we felt like not welcome guest which was better but I wish they could do better from the beginning.
over all, It was okay but after such a great service from the other villa ...
Well they definitely let us down.
and it's pretty noisy at night time we don't wanna go back this place there are lot better hotels with better service with that price

We stayed in La Villais for two nights. After reading a few of the not so good reviews on TA I was a bit worried, but honestly, I found the villas to be very nice.

The room was extremely spacious, clean and luxurious, the bed comfortable (pillows a bit high though), the pool area was fantastic, and the bathroom spacious. The outdoor lounge area was also great and we could sit around after we had a swim in the pool.

There were a few small finishes that prevented it from being a proper 5 star place, which included a small crack in the toilet seat, and the grout between the bathroom tiles were a bit grubby in some areas. The breakfast was ok only, and I would consider eating outside if you are fussy with food. But a small price to pay overall. We stayed towards the back of the complex which was a 2 min stroll away from the reception area.

I tried their spa which was good and set up in a huge treatment room and the quality of the massage was good (not quite as good as Prana, but different price bracket!).

The villas are close to eat street which was handy, and about a 5-7 min walk away from Seminyak square. The beach was around a 15 mins walk so please keep this in mind - also that there are very little foot paths to walk along. Make sure you get your bearings when you are walking, as it is quite easy to get lost at night time as the villas are on the back streets of Seminyak.

I didn't get any sewerage smell - here is a slight smell all around that area (not in Ubud I found), however that is not unusual for many parts of asia.

Overall it was a good villa to stay in, however with so much choice and new villas being built, it's worth doing your research first.

We started our stay in Bali with four nights at La Villais. Although I had some problems with our stay in Seminyak, none were the result of La Villais. I just found the aggressive over-development and challenged infrastructure in this part of Bali to be a bit off-putting. The hotel itself is a quiet haven in its midst.

This is a relatively new facility, so it is well appointed and very clean. The "room" was very good. The bedroom itself is large and well furnished with plenty of closet space and good bath room facility. The exterior provided a great private yard complete with plunge pool, outdoor shower, living room/dining area/kitchen, lounge, and outdoor shower. We really enjoyed spending time around the pool in the afternoons. It was like having our own private resort.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The service top drawer. For example, the hotel arranged transportation to our next destination (a three hour drive) for a very reasonable price.

The restaurant was fine for breakfast, which is served buffet style. it did not offer lunch or dinner, although room service is available.

We would gladly stay here again should the opportunity arise. The hotel had a driver and van meet us at the airport, which makes it a good option for your first few nights in Bali. There is a very good, reasonable laundry service across the street 100 meters down the road.

We selected La Villais for our holiday in Bali based on the high ranking given in Trip Advisor. I think the ranking is somewhat misleading because there are so many different lists based on location, type of accommodation etc..

In terms of value for money, i think La Villais is among the best- the villa is very luxurious and has everything that one could want. The private pool is clean and is surprisingly deep (1.5 meters), there is a basic but adequate kitchenette and a nice outdoor sitting area. The room and sitting areas have good big screen TVs and very nice multi-media players where we could use DVDs as well as our Ipod. There is a long walk-way to get to the villa but if you dont feel like walking the hotel has 2 golf carts to ferry you to and fro. Some of the reviews mentioned problems with mosquitos, this is a fact but i think if you want to stay in a villa and have a private pool you have to be prepared for it- there is no way that you can keep the blighters out in such a setting.

Though we were quite content to stay in the villa, there was very little the rest of the hotel has to offer. There is a competent Spa- not among the best in Bali but prices are average. There is a basic restaurant with a decent menu- we did not try the food there except breakfast, which was just the bare minimum that one can expect. There is also a public pool in case you get tired of the private one. The hotel staff were very attentive, helpful and polite. Our package included free transfers to and from the airport, which was very helpful. It also included free drops to nearby attractions, which was not very helpful because they are very strict about "drop only" and "nearby only". I found that if you need any extras, the price charged by the hotel was very high- what we used was telephone, some flowers in the room, and a replacement tea-pot that we broke. In each case we were astounded by the price that the hotel charged. We compared the price of using the hotel car with other local car options (same make of car) and here also the difference in price was quite huge.

We were not happy with the location of the hotel. It is located in Seminyak, about 150 meters from the main street. It is a 7-8 minute walk to some very nice restaurants and shopping. The selection of shops and restaurants is not as huge as in Kuta or Ubud but was good enough for us. However the beach is quite a distance (25 minute walk)- it may be a case of grass being greener on the other side, but we felt that it would have been better to stay in a hotel/resort that was on the beach or a short walk from the beach. Bali traffic is extremely unpleasant and driving to Ubud or any other attractions can take up most of the day. Even going to Kuta which is probably 7-10km away needs a 45 minute taxi ride, so between driving and walking we found that we spent too much time trying to get to places! Otherwise, taxis are available at the hotel within 5 minutes of asking and they usually go with the taximeter so no need to haggle.

Room Tip: try to get a room closer to the reception so you have to walk less.

We found the location to be superb. Easy walking to restaurants, cafes and shopping. The walk to the beach was about 15 minutes, but worth it for a change of scene and the beaches are beautiful. The staff at La Villais were wonderful and very helpful. A printed concise map of the resort and surrounding restaurants would be helpful as all they had to offer was a photocopied sheet! We truly loved our stay there and would definately stay there again. The rooms were extremely cleaned and well maintained. They did spray for mozzies during our stay which was comforting. The private pool was cleaned regularly also. We were very happy.

We stayed at La Villais and selected this accommodation based on reviews on TA. The accommodation was great, staff very friendly and breakfast was pretty good considering how many people stay compared to the "big" hotels. Some negatives though, yes there were Mosquitos, not too bad though. There was a distinct smell however we found that the smell is fairly common in Bali. Please buy a new toaster! We did have a bad experience with a money changer in Seminyak square and this made us very uncomfortable as we have never had such an experience on our many visits to Bali, This is not the issue of La Villais though. All in all pretty good, not sure that it's 5star though. We prefer to stay at Nusa Dua, and will likely return to Nusa Dua for our future trips. Not sure how families with young children would manage here re the pool, could be challenging to keep the kids safe if they don't swim well. We agree re the lighting too, it could be brighter.

Room Tip: If you don't like a long walk then request a villa near the front.
