“Excellent hotel! Absolutely adored our time at Astana!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

Stayed at the Astana Kunti hotel over the last three nights of our month long trip to Bali. Along with two friends, we absolutely loved the Astana Kunti the moment our driver pulled up at the lobby. A very chic, boutique style hotel, we stayed in a suite room that opens up onto a communal lap pool. The rooms have been beautifully designed, even with their own small kitchenette which was so handy for enjoying cups of tea and storing cereals, snacks etc. The staff were extremely friendly, and the desk staff beyond helpful! We received many great tips on things we could do, such as visiting 66 Beach in order to watch the afternoon sunsets. As we were catching a red eye flight out of Bali, the hotel was flexible in allowing us to have a late evening checkout so we could shower etc before the flight. This was for an additional cost (50% of the room price). It did make life much easier though!

The hotel is set back from the main drag of Seminyak, however doesn't take more than 15 minutes walk to get to. Cabs can also be called from the reception and are very inexpensive. The hotel doesn't have free wifi, however is available for a price. This could be a problem for some, but as we were on holiday, we thoroughly enjoyed the lack of communication with the outside world.

The hotel has a restaurant, which we ate dinner at on our final evening in Bali. The food was fabulous, quoted by my travelling partner who is involved in the restaurant business, as the best meal she had had in Bali over the course of a month.

If we had our time over, we would have cut time in other places and extended our stay at the Astana Kunti. Definitely will be recommending this hotel to friends!

The hotel isn't walking distance to anywhere. It's down the end of a track and you need a taxi to get anywhere. The breakfast servings are pitiful. The pool is big enough for maybe 2 people and never gets any sun. If you want to feel like your on holiday then avoid this place as its not designed for a holiday.

we thought we found a good deal online but good deals can be bad sometimes. If you want to spend all the time outside then MAYBE this is so-so for you but like i said there are many hotels to choose from.
1) front desk male staffs are unprofessional, unhelpful and at times rude. they could be bored with their job or just plain ignorant. if you need to help or information, don't bother to ask or that will just raise your blood pressure. on the other hand, the security guard is friendly, warm and helpful.
2) rooms are so-so, i would rate cleanliness 1 out of five. we found the utensils dirty/oily, they never replenish the amenities. when ask for extra pillow (there's only 1) they said they don't have any. towels are old and dirty and there isn't even hand and face towels.
3) breakfast is horrible.
4) we need to pay for the wi-fi which is fine by us however the connection was really bad so don't bother to pay for it unless it is free.
5) location is inconvenient - some taxis have a hard time trying to find the hotel (especially at night).
hope you guys have better luck if you decides to stay in this hotel.

We had two interconnecting rooms. Rooms were clean and reasonably modern but quite small.
The beds were a great size but my side of the mattress was lumpy. The bathrooms had the BEST shower I have ever stood under. Water pressure was superb and shower head was massive.
The rooms overlook a smallish lap pool. The gazebo is lovely to relax and read a book.
The location of the villas is not very good and the road is third world.
The staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were excellent and set us up for the day. Only 10k in a taxi to civilization.
I'd rate this place a 7 but my wife rated it a 6.
I wouldn't stay here again but it was ok......it you can get it cheap enough.

Room Tip: Do not pick room 107....the pool filter is right next door and goes off every few minutes ensuring a...

The Astana Kunti was not very well in tune with the needs of somebody looking to spend a relaxing time away from home. Unless you spend all your time away from your villa. Constantly had to ring and ask for sugar, like every day, usually twice. Housekeeping never replenished any tea or coffee/sugar etc unless asked to. There was not even a kettle to boil water. Villa consisted of an open gazebo type lounge/kitchen and an enclosed bedroom. At night if you want to sit and relax you have no choice but to go to bed as this is where the TV is mounted and the gazebo/villa would be inundated with mosquitoes after dark. The villas were not that new and the facilities within were aged and tacky, and the villa pool was very small. OK for us because we do not swim but any body who did would be struggling to make two strokes before the length of the pool was exceeded. For the price paid, the service and standard were that of a toilet in a toilet, as Bali itself is a horrible horrible place compared to similar destinations such as Phuket.

Room Tip: Go to Phuket

Stayed in the Hotel 1 bedroom suite, room 124, rooms are a good size, King size bed, good size Ensuite, Lounge area & a Kitchenette with large fridge, Room was nice & clean, We did check the Villas out & they looked OK as well.

Hotel pool area was OK, but the water was pretty cold as it wasn't in the sun for much of the day, pool is about 3mtrs wide by maybe 20mtrs long.

Didn't get the Breakfast in our package so can't comment on that.

Hotel is located down the end of a bumpy street, a little bit of a walk maybe 10-15min back to Sunset rd from hotel, Hotel will ring a taxi for you & they are pretty quick arriving with in 5min.

Staff are very friendly & will organize anything for you eg: motorbike/car rentals, tours etc.

The only drama we had was my mums room, room 111 smelt mouldy & she had problems with the shower.

Stay here for just over a week. Good place to stay if you are interested in staying at the hotel and relaxing as it's a fair walk to the nearest shopping district. The quality of the room, the service and included food was great. Would stay here again. Only two complaints, 1. Wifi would time out after 1 minute of inactivity making it very difficult to do anything. 2. The road into the hotel has lots of pot holes making it a bit difficult for taxis/cars to navigate.
