We had just experienced driving the incredible serpentine mountain roads from Oudtshoorn, and looked up places to eat on Tripadvisor. The first option was closed, but the second option was Field & Fork, which turned out to be perfect.
Situated on one of the town´s main roads, Field & Fork offers a welcoming sight with its old and genuine Drostdy building. We got a corner table on the veranda/balcony - again perfect.
Even though they do not have a kids menu, the staff was helpful and was able to conjure up something that worked for 4-6 year olds.
I had the best RIb-Eye steak of our month-long trip in South Africa. The gazpacho was also amazing - just the way it should be. Although we probably wouldn´t return to Swellendam, we would definitely choose to eat there again if possible.
