“Dining in a nice Drostdy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

This small restaurant is run three nights per week by Sabine out of an old Drostdy house. We spent the evening dining in the garden. Good service and excellent food but it took some time to get served. Portion are rather big but apparently that has to do what the local customers expect. So suggest to check that out before ordering. Worth a second visit.

“Lovely restaurant with excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

On our honeymoon to south africa, we stayed 3 nights in Swellendam in De koof luxury estate. On one of the nights we went to eat at Sabine´s which was recommend by the hotel. Very nice food (with some typical south african dishes). Try the springbok carpaccio or the flamed fillet steak. Mouthwatering!
Excellent and very helpfull service. We forgot our telephone , which was delivered to our hotel the same night! If you are in neighbourhood go to Sabine´s.

“Did not meet expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Arrived early and enjoyed atmosphere. Food overpriced and not very tasty. The African Trio had tough lamb, bobotie that seemed to be filled with bread no meat(?), and chicken pie that was all bones.
Ordered a Belgian pudding hoping that they would know how to cook that, but it was too large, and pretty tasteless.
Owner kept coming to the table and TELLING us it was enjoyable!

“Daylight danger”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

I stayed in Swellendam and enjoyed a great dinner at Sabines, but when I went for lunch on the Tuesday I was quite surprised to see how unloved the building seems. The tapas were most enjoyable. Try anything on that list - the portions are very 'bourgondisch'. The atmosphere was lacking however and I would really like to impress on management to pay attention to the peeling paint, dusty lamp shades, electric wires, and so on. By light of day, this place is lacking (especially since 2 new places are super cool and very well finished)

“Very good starter and dessert!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

The mushroom a la Sabine was excellent. We choose the african meat plate as the main course , it wasn't our cup of tea. The taste of impala and springbook are very special. The icecream with chocolate sauce was very nice.
