“Wonderful outlook, very quiet setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

We spent two nights here between our stay in Wilderness and Hermanus. The room was very spacious and comfortable. It is a tidy step from the town so you need the car to go out for dinner. We tried a take-away Pizza one night from a place in town but that was not a great success! Every so often you really don't want to have to eat a full dinner when your trip is a long one. It would be great to have a little hotplate to plug in and a wee frying pan maybe to make an omelette or something equally simple. . We did walk into town during the day to see the historical side but it was very, very hot and a delight to get back and plunge into the pool!
It will be even better when the bamboo shading at the pool is completed and they start on shading the parking areas outside the rooms.

Room Tip: They are all much the same I think. We had room 3 which is semi-detached with room 4. The second da...

We stayed for two nights at this lodge- and it was absolutely wonderful! The setting is breathtaking and the fresh mountain air ensured a good nights sleep. The rooms are spacious and every little detail has been taken care of.Denise, the manager on duty, was very friendly and immediately sorted out the small problem we had.If you are looking for a romantic get away or just need to be spoilt, this is the place. We hiked in the adjacent Marloth nature reserve and that is highly recommended.Beautiful rock pools, streams and forest.Unfortunately no time for the horse riding, but we will be back.We also found the rate to be reasonable.

This 4 star Lodge is situated on the outskirts of Swellendam, a lovely country town to visit.
The beauty of your surroundings are unsurpassed, rolling lawns, a small river, two dams , massive mountain range.
Accommodation is very modern, spacious and clean with all mod cons. A small microwave would be a good addition to the suite.
Staff are friendly, efficient and go out of their way to be accommodating.
Breakfast is substantial and of high calibre, served on the patio with a view that presses you to take your time with the meal.
Totally recommendable. You will want to stay longer !

We were made to feel very welcome on our 2 night stay at this lovely lodge.
Very comfortable and of a very high standard.
Large double bed, bath and separate shower, kitchenette with basin and basic crockery and cutlery. Best of all, a large covered veranda with views of the mountains.
Would recommend a stay here and would love to go back for another visit.

This is a beautiful, newly built lodge situated at the base of the mountains with a spectacular view of the mountain. Room is beautiful and well equipped with great linen. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. Really tranquil spot perfect for weekend get away.

The folks at Gaikou Lodge really worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. The surroundings are beautiful, staff was great, and our rooms were gorgeous. Swellendam is a cute little town and enjoyable to visit.

A group of 28 of us stayed for two nights in late November. This place is a little gem in Swellendam. It has separate cottages with rooms for couples and family units plus a central common area. The views of the mountains behind the lodge are great. The ladies who were on duty for our weekend were fantastic as was the presentation of the rooms and breakfast. It could not be faulted and certainly delivers on its 4 star rating. We will be back next year !
