The Guest House looks beautiful and has a lovely view.But...If you expect what they promise on the website, than forget it!!! Really disappointing stay after such a promising info.Too many stairs. Not suited for disabled people. No help with airport transfer at arrival like they are offering. No properly working airconditioner in de room so we moved into another room with sadly the same problem.Hot and difficult to breathe and sleep especially when my wife got ill.We asked the owner to fix it but he didn't and he went on a family holiday without saying anything about the aircon. When he got back no apology only a rear and avoiding answer. Two weeks without airco!Ridicules!!
Our shower was leaking all over the bathroom and there was nobody to fix it.Most of the time were two and sometimes three sweet ladies staff left to manage the whole property with more work than it should be allowed so you had to search for them for help and when you did find them they were not allowed to or not capable of solving problems like often no Wi-Fi; no aircon; no telephone in the rooms; no fitting keys for the safe; stuck swimming pool cleaner. There was no sign of the Jacuzzi. The breakfast was very poor, no variety in meats and cheese. You could ask for any kind of eggs but you had to ask the same staff to make it while they were too busy making the rest of the breakfast ready. Most awful moment (owners being Dutch and considering the painful history of the local people) was when we tried to address the owner about the amount of work the staff had to do. It was quickly dismissed with the words: "They can manage the place without us but it wasn't always like that. At the beginning we had to use the Dutch whip to teach them how to work".What a disrespect for such hardworking people. This is in our opinion a modern slavery! At the end we confronted the owner with the amount of existing problems and the fact that they had not been solved and asked him how he would compensate. We got the same ignorant behaviour as before. The one and only positive aspect about the owners is the afford they made now and then to give some tips about the area.
All in all no good value for that amount of money. Sweet staff, wonderful area but with owners who want to get rich as quick as possible without getting involved forgetting about quality.

De Molen is a very nice guesthouse, run by a more than friendly Dutch couple! It's personal and they do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible! The location is superb, beautiful views and close to a lot of golfcourses. But also close to all kind of attractive places like Vergelegen, Franschoek and Capetown is only at 30 minutes drive!

We have stayed here for a week and have had a pleasant stay.
The Guesthouse is very nicely located with beautiful surroundings and close to wineries.
We stayed in the self catering lodge. It was a nice lodge.

Good points:
- nice location
- friendly staff, always willing to help
- friendly management, always willing to give tips on where to go
- rooms in good condition

Improvement points;
- the dishwasher was out of order and it seemed that this was the case for a longer time.
We reported it, but nothing was done about it.
- The website mentions a jacuzzi, but that is not existing anymore. This was a disappointment for our kids.
- The pool could / should be cleaned better

A big thank you to Christie and Jorris for an awesome week's stay at De Molen Guesthouse ! The bedroom and en suite bathroom were very large and very comfortable, with a great patio. And the view from Room 1 was absolutely stunning. I asked for a sea view and a mountain view, and Room 1 had both. We will definitely stay here again when we go to Somerset West.

This was our second visit at the Molen guesthouse. Again our stay was very comfortable. The renovated rooms have great quality beds and a modern bathroom with a good shower. We had the familyroom with a large, sunny balcony. We also liked the personal service of Joris and Christy, the spectacular view and beautifull surroundings. Recommended!

We booked this place with my sister and her family, hoping that this guest house would surpass our expectations, but sadly not. From the day my husband, son and i arrived, we were given lovely rooms, but the staff were not very nice - in that my nice overheard them on the stairs, gossiping about my son (who uses a wheelchair) but can walk small distances - asking why he needed a wheelchair room..hello....!!! Then promptly one of the staff within an hour of our arrival came to our room to back track her remarks etc etc etc....when the manager was asked for...we were rebuffed.

So our son's room was okay, but our room's air condtiioner did not work at all, we did complain but nothing was done about it.

We then asked for more pillows, but instead got pillow cases????

I sent a pair of trousers and a blouse to be laundered and ironed, it was sent back folded??? in a laundry bag....um...i think a hanger would have been far better...hence no creases!!!

My husband had breakfast every morning, but he said the service was sadly lacking and not a great variety to choose from.

As for the managers, we never really saw them around, they never really bothered to come and find out if we were okay, etc...I find that very bad in terms of this establishment being rated a 4 star guest house.

As for getting around on the property to the pool etc. very badly laid out and designed, not wheelchair friendly at all.

I suggest they send their staff for more hotel training, which is what is needed and that the managers also be more friendlier - not just to their Dutch friends but to other nationalities.
