“Best Seafood Platter!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

We went for dinner last night to Giovannis with some friends, and I had the most spectacular seafood platter ever in my life! I have eaten seafood platters at several places in the world, but this tops them all. Your hosts Peter and Dino will also make sure that you will have a very memorable evening with good food, good wine and special people!

“The View is not everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

In reply to the review sent by Alta that she won't rush back, I feel she needs to take into consideration the consistent quality of all the food on offer which in my opinion is the best in Somerset West. The staff are always very friendly and although the day time atmosphere is not like a wine estate, it is conveniently situated in a quiet shopping mall. She should try going to Giovanni's in the evening when the place is always busy with a typical Italian atmosphere.
I frequent many eating establishments with different views, but my priority with a restaurant is the quality of the food and the service which is what Giovanni's always offers. With most establishments at night, there is no view, but the ambience is what makes the experience.

I went to Cape Town and the best two things were Table Mountain and Peter's fillet steak at Giovanni's.You can't beat either.

“Nice food but won't rush back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

We've read the good reviews on Giovanni's so went there with friends expecting something special. What we got was good pasta an pizza and a friendly waiter (Sheevs??) but nothing much more. The place is jam packed with tables so you battle to get to the toilet. We felt like we were sitiing under the armpits of the people at the next table. Why not remove a few tables and increase the comfort? It's in a small mall which is a setback to start with. If you sit ooutside you look into a cellphone and staionery shop and a John Dorys.
We'll go back but not in a hurry - although we'll definitely order takeaway pizzas.
