“Pies to make you drool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

The pies really are home-made and people who live in Sedgefield come back time and time again to get them to take away. If you are a visitor, you can sit and be served. You'll probably shed a tear that the steam trains no longer run.

“You won't get a better pie anywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

This café is installed at the Sedgefield train station, although since the Outeniqua choo-choo no longer runs, no trains stop there. The place serves a very decent breakfast, but their pies are famous in the area. Pastry is thin and light, and fillings are generous, to say the least. If you order a chicken pie (one of their best) you get masses of white-meat chicken in the pie. Also excellent are their steak and kidney, pepper steak and the chicken curry (yes, a curry pie). All brimming with filling. Their milk tart (a South African staple) is also divine. But don't expect to show up and get your pie. Their popularity ensures you need to order in advance. And finally, the prices are absurdly cheap for this kind of superb cooking.
