“A little piece of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2011

Wonderful scenery, fabulous views. We unfortunately only had one night here, wished we could have stayed longer. Room was in the pretty gardens and was private, comfortable clean and spacious with a shaded verandah to relax on after a days sightseeing. Welcoming drinks and nibbles served on our verandah by our hosts at 7pm - a lovely thing to do. Great dinner and breakfast too. We would love to come back to this peaceful place again.

The personal attention at Olive Garden was what stood out for me this weekend. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating; one could really see they wanted us to enjoy ourselves. The setting is beautiful and quiet, ideal for a romantic weekend away. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, hiking trail etc. all contribute to this being a very special place.
Thanks Gina and Fernand!

The couple were very unfriendly and unwelcoming. We arrived just after midday and were made to feel very uncomfortable about 'arriving so early'. Views massively disappointing, rooms comfortable with good facilities but decor odd (ie western-style swing doors to bathroom so you can see/hear your mate on the loo while in the room). Also very expensive for the facilities and smelt of dog poo. Went for supper around the corner at Fraai Uitzicht where the host was charming, location much better and we were welcomed warmly and given delicious food.

Extremely pleasant stay, the atmosphere is very relaxed and the rooms are more than comfortable with everything you need. The hosts are really geared to ensure that you feel welcome from the first moment you arrive with very personal service and excellent food.

What a great place to slip away to for a weekend! The hosts, Gina & Fernand were made for this industry and know how to make their guests feel welcome! The rooms are great, each with their own balcony/veranda where you can enjoy sundowners overlooking the mountains of Robertson. The highlight of this visit had to be the FOOD! Fernand is the most remarkable chef, I have never had the pleasure of enjoying such amazing meals. The breakfasts are indeed 5 star, as advertised on their website, and as for the 3 course dinners - well, words do not do justice! Gina commented that they enjoy preparing meals that you wouldn't get at home, and boy were they right! The wine that accompanied the meals were also superb and very well chosen.

A fire place in your room (lit while you have dinner) makes it super cosy on chilly nights, and the wonderful hosts even put a hot water bottle into the beds to warm your feet. What a lovely surprise when you hop into bed. Nothing is too much trouble for this friendly Belgian couple!

I look forward to visiting agin soon, and taking a few friends along to share this wonderful experience! Thanks to Gina & Fernand!

Our stay at the Olive Garden Country Lodge was one of the best week-end away's that I have had. The hospitality was fantastic - nothing was to much of an effort.

Our hosts were great - made us feel that we belonged.

The room was modern and very comfortable with a fireplace which was great on those cold evenings.

The food was to die for. I have never in my life had food that good and what I liked was that if you could not eat what they were serving they would change to your food choice and make you something special.

I will recommend this lodge to all.

Thank you Gina & Fernand and olive team for a most memorable stay.

The welcome at the Olive Garden is fabulous with welcome drinks and a tour of the cottages and facilities by Gina. The seperate cottages are well appointed with comfortable rooms. Ours had a luxurious bathroom and the second bedroom had an outdoor ensuite with shower, which our teenage children used. We especially liked the log fire when the sun went down as it does get chilly in the winter. Fernand's meals were delicious and excellent value. The location is on the olive farm that Gina and Fernand are developing and we were delighted to be given a small gift of olive oil on our departure. The 'doggy welcoming committee'was great, - just ignore the loud barks as you roll up to reception: both dogs are very friendly and keen to see what you are up to whenever you're out and about.
The swimming pool should be great in summer and there's also a hot tub.
The views over the farm and mountains are great and the peace and quiet is refreshing, and is only a short drive from Robertson.
