“A wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We visited in October and had a great stay. Good food, great wine and a welcoming host. An afternoon relaxing on the estate and by the pool was just what we needed after a few weeks travelling around South Africa. Thoroughly recommend a stay there.

Returning in late January for our fourth visit, we enjoyed a truly relaxing few days on this working wine estate. The accommodation is extremely comfortable - lovely bed with gorgeous bed linen - in the historic former family home of the owners. Amenities include a superb swimming pool and deck, where you have lovely breakfasts, the opportunity to taste their wines and to blend your own and the use of a golf buggy to tour the estate, which is particularly interesting when they're harvesting the grapes. Carin and her team are welcoming, friendly and attentive and provide delicious home cooking with plenty of their own wines to go with it. A lovely experience.

This was our second visit - again it was extremely enjoyable - great accommodation and the food is just amazing! A very warm welcome from Carin and the staff who were always on hand to help with a smile.
The wine is good - we enjoyed blending our own as well as tasting the ones on offer - it flowed with dinner too!

We spent 2 nights at Excelsior Manor, my husband and my mother and I, and all enjoyed it thoroughly. The Manor House is gorgeous, the rooms are very spacious and cmfortable. Lovely little touches like fresh flowers in the bedrooms and bathrooms, plus sweet little bottles of Muscadel and chocolates - to ensure sweet dreams no doubt! Carin is the perfect hostess. A highlight was getting to make our own blend of red wine in the beautiful tasting room, overlooking the dam - whilst horses waded into the dam and munched on the weed - both events were a first for us!

Carin, and in fact everyone we met were friendly and helpful. The property and rooms are cool and elegant. The furniture is stunning. Sitting on the cool terraces overlooking the garden or by the pool with the lovely views is something we will always remember. We had a delicious meal in the dining room served by Carin and James. Our stay was our highlight of our holiday, so much so we have decided to come back in a few weeks for another stay, so it must have impressed us!

My husband and I stayed at Exclesior for 2 nights after winning a prize. Our bedroom was spacious, clean with good linen and the facilities were homely. We enjoyed a ride through the vneyards on a golf cart with the resident dog in tow, lapped up the sun at the poolside and enjoyed their library with some good wine from the estate. The weekend was the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city. Thank you Excelsior for making this possible!

This is a well kept and nicely managed manor at Excelsior wine estate, just a few kilometers outside of Robertson, surrounded by vineyards and flower gardens. Most of the rooms are on the small side, but we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, the wonderful homemade cooking and the excellent wines. A very nice find for one or two days in lovely surroundings.
