We visited Nenya in February 2011 and had such a wonderful stay. The whole house is beautifully decorated and our room was just perfect. We had a room that opened up onto the pool with beautiful views across the valley. The guest lounge was next to our room and was well equipped with an honesty bar, fridge, wine cooler, microwave, dining table, lounge area, games and lots of local information and tourist leaflets/brochures.
Lynette was very welcoming and contacted us before our arrival to welcome us and offer arrival advice. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in a serene setting before exploring the Western Cape, Cape Point, Simons Town, Table Mountain and Cape Town which are all easily accessible. One day we drove up towards Paal and Franschhoek and spent some time visiting vineyards. This was an easy drive that took less than 1 hour. We enjoyed a fine selection of cheeses for lunch while sampling the wine selection at Dieu Donne Vineyard (http://www.dieudonnevineyards.com/). Some days we found it so hard to leave the relaxing and peaceful surroundings of Nenya and spent the whole day by the pool.
Lynette was a big help to us for planning our days. We had a basic idea of what we wanted to do but Lynette's local knowledge and helpful advice made it very easy for us to plan our days and visit the places we were interested in. She also gave us a her own day long inventory with directions and information for exploring the villages along the cape and cape point and helped us to arrange e-tickets for Cape Mountain, which can help bet the queues during busy times.
Hout Bay itself is an excellent location. Everywhere is so easily accessible from here, there are some lovely Restaurants (Chapmans Peak Hotel was very nice and Dunes is in a lovely location), and the beaches look lovely. There is also a Craft Market on a Sunday that is definitely worth a visit, though many of the sellers can be seen along the roadside on the drive up the coast to Cape Town on any day.
If you are planning a trip to Cape Town I would definitely recommend Nenya Guest House and Hout Bay. Before our visit we had no idea of where to stay and feel very lucky to have found this little gem. We hope to go again soon and there is no other place we would prefer to stay than Nenya.
Thank you Lynette and Coco once again for making us feel so welcome and for helping to make our holiday so perfect.
