My partner and I stayed one week in the Comb View Room in November 2014, my 2nd stay after one week in 2012.
The Comb View Room keeps what the pictures on the homepage promise. We felt very comfortable with the modern architecture and the stylish interieur. The room in fact is like an own small house next to the main building and has its own private seperate sun deck with a wonderful view. A big plus for us, because sometimes you don't want to listen to all the travel adventures of the other guests while you are relaxing in the sun... However you can also lay at the pool with the other guests if you desire to.
Same with the breakfast. It's served at a big dining table, preferably outside on the terrace. If you just want to be to yourself with your partner you just go half an hour later than the rest. Breakfast can be enjoyed all day - no fixed schedule.
I don't want to write anymore about the quality of the breakfast. I just agree with all the other comments - it's very good - high quality of the food, as well as the variety.

The hosts, Dirk and Patrick, are very welcoming and always put in a high personal effort that you are satisfied with your vacation at the cube. Restaurant recommendations and reservations are always at hand.
We also kind of used them as our "holiday manager" for our whole trip, e.g. for clues / bookings for other guesthouses along our route in South Africa.
We also appriciated the complimentary cell phone during the stay, makes it easy to confirm a reservation, spontaneus call and book a tour.

The Cube has a lot of 5 star ratings and if you question yourself if this can be all real: In my opinion without hesitation: yes!
The hosts put in all their effort to make your stay wonderful. The remarkable estate with the modern architecure is a good base, but only with the continous hard work and the talent of being a good host makes it a 5 star guesthouse. So really, they deserve their excellent reviews!
Due to worktravel I have about 200 nights in hotels every year, so I also have possibilities for comparison.

Cube was our first accommodation after arriving in SA. We stayed for 3nights. Our room was absolutely beautiful. Nice view and decoration. Everything in the CUBE house is just so lovely and has a lot of positive energy.

Breakfast was delicious. Both, Dirk and Patrick helped us whenever we needed them (Big thank you to you again guys!)

We really can recommend this place. It's a good value for money.

What a delightful two days at the Cube! I only wish it could have been longer. Dirk and Patrick (as well as Mishak and the other staff) were absolutely phenomenal hosts who have mastered the subtle art of providing the luxury of top-rate service (including terrific tips on restaurants and tours!) with the sort of warm and comforting welcome that makes you feel instantly at home (and wishing this were your home, in my case!). The accommodations and setting are utterly stunning. The daily breakfast offers both healthy and indulgent options-- all delicious. -And the two beautiful, laid-back pups are perfectly delightful additions. I stayed in the free-standing cottage and was transported by the craftsmanship and innovative design that make this unit so uniquely magical. My time at the Cube was unforgettable, and hopefully soon to be extended in my next visit to Cape Town! Thanks so much to everyone at the Cube for a tremendous experience. -Hilary

We chose Cube Guest House for staying a night on our road trip from Cape town to Johannesburg in July 2014. Already upon booking we love the well organized website and the possibility to chose the perfect room thanks to many pictures and descriptions on the website. The communication already before the trip with the hosts was very good (which always gives us personally a good impression already up front).

The owerns Patrick and Dirk and their two lovely dogs are amazing hosts! You feel like visiting friends, and you feel taken care of perfectly. Dirk even recommended a perfect restaurant for our dinner and reserved a table (the best table in the restaurant as we found it later there :))) for us and it was really a wonderful experience and occasion to relax for us.

The place is located near the coast with views on the beautiful hills in Hout Bay. The guest house itself is a architectual masterpiece, very modern and interesting construction with a very nice common and breakfast area, pool land beautiful garden.

We chose the Comb View room, which is located in a from the common/main house separate building with private entrance and also a large terrace with grass on it and garden chairs so you have real private experience. Very luxurious and spacious bathroom with large tub, heating and air condition in the rooms, TV, apple TV, well stocked and absolutely amazingly reasonably priced minibar! The entire grounds are very safe due to alarm systems.

The breakfast is very plentiful, a selection of cheeses, meats, eggs/omlets, teas, coffee, bakery items, fruits, yoghurt, etc. all served by their friendly staff and Paul the cuddly and friendly Golden Retriver loves to cuddle with dog-lovers like us.

We didnt try the pool as it was simply too cold (we came in winter) but it looked very inviting. There is also a summer room near the pool (like a pool house) which looks quite interesting! (but recommended for summer!)

We would love to stay longer than just a day/night, so we planning this place for a longer rest-relaxing trip when we come back.

Room Tip: We loved the comb view room, beautiful view on the hills and mountains and private terrace with gras...

My boyfriend and I stayed at CUBE for 3 nights from June 19th to 22nd. I had high expectations given all the positive tripadvisor reviews and the service and hospitality provided by Dirk and Patrick exceeded all of them!

Even before we arrived at CUBE, they were highly responsive to our questions via email regarding local attractions, recommendations on car rentals and any other general enquiries. Not only did they respond to our queries quickly, but they also provided very detailed answers. They also made great recommendations for dinner options and made all reservations on our behalf prior to our arrival.

CUBE is not located in downtown Cape Town but is a short drive (30 mins.) away in Hout Bay. The neighbourhood is very quiet and beautiful. The major attractions we were interested in (Table Mountain, Cape Point, Boulders Beach, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek) were not located downtown anyway and we'd rented a car so the location was not an issue for us.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Dirk and the 2 lovely dogs that live at CUBE. He immediately made us feel at home, and very quickly and efficiently assisted us in purchasing tickets for the Table Mountain cable car. Each morning he made himself available to provide directions to and advice on each place we wanted to visit. He also provided us with a cellphone on arrival so we could make free local calls and made himself available in case we needed to reach him while away from the guest house.

Our room was top notch, with a very comfortable bed, in-room nespresso machine, fantastic shower and bath, reliable wifi and very modern and tasteful decoration - the level of luxury made it hard to leave our rooms! The provided breakfast was a real highlight, as we were served a variety of fresh and delicious options (yoghurt & granola, cold cuts, mini cheese platter, small bread basket, eggs on request, fresh jams and marmalade and fruit salad, espresso and tea).

It was truly difficult to say goodbye to Dirk, Patrick and their dogs at the end of our stay. They truly made us welcome and were an integral part of making our stay in Cape Town such a fantastic one. I highly recommend CUBE to anyone planning a trip to Cape Town. The level of service provided was beyond all expectations and they looked after all our needs. I personally intend to return to Cape Town and will stay at CUBE again when I do.
