“Highly, highly recommend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

A beautiful property! We were blown away by the quality of the accommodations and the service provided by the owners. The continental breakfast, prepared by the owners, was fantastic! The rooms were spacious, clean, and warm (given that it was winter when we visited). The views are outstanding, as well. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay any longer than 2 nights. Hoping to get back here someday soon! Don't miss out on this special place!

We loved Plumwood Inn. Could not do enough for you, understand their customers & make recommendations catering for each guest. Beautiful breakfasts, bedrooms are fantastic, tastefully decorated. Lovely balconys to relax on. So easy to walk to any part of Franschoek. Great wine walks recommended, picnics & restaurants. Loved Plumwood Inn was sorry to go after 4 fantastic nights. Ran by two great people!

We spent 3 nights here and the accommodation was very comfortable and being in winter the heating was good. Christopher and his staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was always good. The location is excellent and is walking distance from the main street. We will most certainly stay here again on our next visit.

My wife and i went to stay in Franschhoek for a week for our honeymoon and i most definitely got more than i bargained for. The Inn is walking distance (2mins) from the main hub of Franschhoek where you can find some of the best restaurants in town. The room we stayed in was perfect....we had a view of the mountains which we could see from our bed or if we sat out on the balcony having an afternoon drink (we were in wine country after all). The service was outstanding, Chris the manager was always super friendly and very helpful, in fact all the staff there were friendly and always seemed to have a smile, and it wasn't one of those forced smiles. The array of foods to choose from for breakfast was always very good from the cereals to the fresh fruit salads to the amazing little croissants to the very tasty hot breakfasts.

I would most definitely direct my friends and family to stay there if and when they are in Franschhoek.

We were looking for a romantic get away that was not to far from Cape Town and close to some good places to dine at. We have been many times to Franschhoek over the years and we alway try something new. I booked on line and the booking was acknowledged almost immediately. As they have a no children policy and we were looking for a romantic evening, we left our 3 year old in the care of his sister. A few hours before we were due to check in our little one decided to run a high temperature. So I phoned to cancel the booking fully expecting to lose out on what we had paid. Not so, as it was low season that were able to accommodate us the following weekend - all organized by the manager Christopher.

The check in was quick and efficient. We had room 6 which had a large fire place which proved to be very romantic on a cold winters eventing. The bathroom was equally impressive with a large bathtub and shower. The little candles and bath salts added to the romantic feel.

Christopher arranged a booking at the local eatery which was well recommended. Breakfast the next morning was equally fantastic. Service all round was fantastic. The location in the town is excellent as you can easily walk to most of the interesting places.

One thing that struck me is that this is great value of 4* for the locals, but incredible value if you are paying in £ or $.

We just got back from a lovely winter weekend in Franschoek. We made reservations at Plumwood Inn based on Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The place is well located for easy walking to the main road and many restaurants. Close enough to walk but far enough away that you do not hear any traffic. I agree with most of the previous postings on the service and great host, Christopher, who never had a problem seeing to our requests. The Inn is owned by a Dutch couple but well maintained and managed by locals. We were in unit 6, on the ground floor with a fantastic fireplace. They supplied enough wood which meant we started the fire early evening and kept it going all night. If you do get a room without a fireplace they do have underfloor heating to keep you warm as well. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was also a great addition. The Inn has two swimming pools so should be very nice in summer as well. Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If traveling in winter try to book a room with a fireplace.

From start to finish a great stay.

My wife and I received a warm welcome on arrival with a quick yet broad tour of the establishment.

The room was spacious, beds are comy and the linen is soft and clean.

There was also a fireplace in our room which made the one night, winter stay so much better.

The breakfast was awesome

Great stay!
