“Charming hotel, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Selected this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and it lived up to the high ratings. It is a charming two story hotel/B&B only two blocks away from the main road, R45, in a quiet location with parking right in front. The two house cats are in charge of greeting guests and they do an excellent job. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Excellent restaurants are within walking distance and many wineries are within a short drive up and down the valley.
Breakfast is served in a comfortable dining room with a large outside garden adjoining. The food was excellent with cooked to order eggs and sides.
There is also a large common area with comfortable sofas and chairs.
We had two rooms, both upstairs. One was a cozy attic room and the other had an outdoor terrace with a spa. An excellent place to sample the day's wine exploration.
Franschhoeck is a place worth staying several days and the Klein Olphants would make an excellent base.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to the upstairs room with the outdoor patio.

What a find! Charming small hotel with comfortable rooms and beautiful public spaces, including lovely lounges and gardens. Excellent breakfast. Thoughtful and professional staff ( special thanks to Letticia). Convenient walk to town. Will definitely return.

Having heard about this B&B from an associate, I expected good things, but my personal experience far exceeded my expectations.

The atmosphere is gracious and welcoming French country house. The great room is a lovely 2-story space with large fireplace, overstuffed furniture and 2 resident friendly and personable cats.

There's a lovely kitchen and dining room where an excellent breakfast is served daily. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are well-appointed and very comfortable, with complimentary WiFi. Nice outdoor space with swimming pool.

On-site free parking, location is in the middle of town, 2 blocks off Huguenot Road (R45). Amazing dining within a 4-block walking radius.

Highly recommended, we'll definitely return at the first opportunity.

This was completely unexpected. Quite lovely and a fire to keep the winter chill away in our room. We were travelling as a family and the girls got a goodie bowl full of chips and chocolates while the adults got wine and port.

The rooms were lovely and although the panic button was unsettling we have a terrific couple of nights there. Breakfast was a little on the slow side it must be said.....

Room Tip: Room 6 has a lovely working fireplace

When I phoned to make a booking I have spoken to the manager, Linda. Afterwards I said to my wife it was the most friendly and helpfull person I have delt with in years.

We were really looking forward to our 2 day stay. We arrived about an hour earlier tha check-in time and parked outside the hotel. The streetview is nothing to write home about. We lef the car in the parking bay and took a stroll to town- only two blocks to the main street.

So when we eventually entered the premisies we were impressed with the neatness of the garden etc. Linda open the door and welcomed us like old friends. She took time and showed us around and explaining in detail what was on offer. We had the jacuzzi room, and the warther was marvellous, great- great.

Linda and the staff are really walking the xtra miled for all the guests. Suggesting restaurants and arranged for transport to the restaurants if one so wish. We made use of this free service and the arrangements and pick up and drop off was flawless.Once again thanks to Linda and the staff. Hope to visit soon again.

Our family of 3 had a very enjoyable stay in a great room with own fireplace and pool. Linda is an excellent host, staff very nice, breakfast delicious(no dinner food served, however they make a mean cheese platter to enjoy with your bottle of wine around the fireplace) and the house and garden(lavender galore!) were very pleasant. Just a 2 minute walk to the main street of Franschhoek with superb shopping to be had. We had a rental car so we enjoyed short trips from our hotel to wineries etc. everything is very close. A great experience and we are wanting to come back again. Thanks for a memorable time in a splendid area of South Africa.

We spent a lovely evening in this lovely little gem of a Hotel. The interiors are charming and stylish, the rooms are well thought out, comfortable and luxurious and the staff very friendly and hospitable.
We had two rooms, the Elephant Suite - with our own swimming pool on a very cute little terrace and a nearby equally well appointed room for our daughter. After enquiring about dining options in the vicinity we were booked into one of the best hard to find a table restaurant and had a lovely meal. The breakfast is served either inside or on a stunning patio overlooking the beautiful garden which was still in full bloom with roses and lavender.
We would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Elephant Suite has it's own pool!
