“Go on Saturday, around 11.”

One of the most fun wine tours I've been taken on. The lads are comedic and congenial, and the tasting was abundant. I continue to search for a blanc du blanc to compare...

“Amazing dinner and wonderful view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012 via mobile

Myself and two friends ate dinner here on Wednesday and were floored. Probably the most picturesque car park ever, provided outstanding views of the valley at sunset. Inside we spent about 1.5-2hrs over an amazing multi-course dinner. We were starving after our day of wine tasting in the valley

The kitchen sent out complimentary broccoli soup as a starter and we also shared the springbok terrine and half an order of gnocchi (yum). The restaurant offers full and half order which is great if you have a smaller appetite (not us). For mains we shared half order salmon, half of the pork duo, full trio of duck and full warthog (the BEST!!!). Dessert was almond chocolate brownie or creme brule for our table. The kitchen also sent a sample of sorbet with a delicious doughnut filled with warm peanut butter (omg)

What would have been a $100+ dinner at home came to about $120 total here, and we loved every second

“Very nice cellar tour but bad wines”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012 via mobile

The location is nice. We had a very interesting cellar tour with a very nice guide but the wines are poor. There is no wine that is worth to drink. Very young, unexperienced and not tasty at all. Also strange combinations of vines. Go just for the wine cellar tour!

Dear Floc77,

We are glad you enjoyed the cellar tour at Haute Cabrière, and are sorry to hear that our wines did not appeal to you. Since wine appreciation is a very personal matter, we would like to share with other TripAdvisor readers that our wines – marketed under the Haute Cabrière and Pierre Jourdan brands - rank among the most popular wines on the South African market, and are appreciated for being elegant, accessible and food friendly. As for the “combination of vines” (i.e. the blend of the cultivars), we would like to confirm that we specialise in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – the two classic Burgundian cultivars, famous in France and the world over for their elegant and style. The blends we produce follow the authentic French tradition – as you would find in the top Champagne houses of the world. Nothing strange about that!

“Off with their heads!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Haut Cab (is easier to say than the full name), is a delight if not only to watch the owner with his sabre remove the top of a champagne bottle! the canapes were excellent and paired with the wine - the starters were delightful in thier pain pots and the Karoo Lamb was delicious! You cant leave without trying the Ratafia!

“Good for Brut wines”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

One of the few (if only) wine estate that does sparkling wine. Friendly staff and smooth wine tasting experience.
